I'm entered in the open category at Cannock this Saturday. Unfortunately I knackered the front brake on my geared bike last night which means I might be racing the three laps on my singlespeed.
Am I mad? I guess the open cat is pretty fast?

I've only been to Cannock once or twice, but the fastest guy I saw there was on a SS. A blue Spot Brand.

I've raced twice (summer/winter) on a singlespeed at Cannock, there are steep bits with no run up for momentum as it's mostly singletrack through the trees and not on the way marked bits, but as long as you have string arms & legs you'll be fine
