Looking at a raceface stem to go with my bars but am not sure which would be best.

Which would be the strongest and least flexy out of the Atlas or Turbine R.

Its for my full susser.

Cheers

I've never considered stem flex, unless your bars are clydebuilt, it's not an issue. Buy whatever you like the look of/meets your budget.

The Atlas is stronger. The Turbine R is plenty strong enough for... well everything really. Never heard of one break.

There were reports of turbine stems breaking, and lots of people got replacement faceplates, but Silverfish/RaceFace didn't actually do a recall. Not sure if the "R" is a newer model, but from the below, and my own experience of their products, I'd be looking at a different brand if strength and durability are a priority.

I think the turbine r is meant to be stronger than the turbine. I’ve run one on my Enduro bike for a while with no dramas.

Never considered stem flex and can’t say I’ve ever noticed any stem flexing on any bike.

Looking at the 2 of them the Atlas looks like it would ultimately be stronger - it has a lot more material particularly in the front plate.

My Atlas was pretty solid and slightly overbuilt if anything, the older turbines did break but the newer version Turbine R is plenty stiff and strong enough for most people especially in 35, my mate has one with full width bars and its stiffer than it looks, most riders don't notice stem flex but if you always do then go for the Atlas.

The Turbine was quite snappy, Ive not heard of a single Turbine R breaking, nor the Easton Haven that its a rebadge of.

I got an upgraded (thicker) faceplate for my Turbine stem from Silverfish, when there was the issue of some of them snapping.
Mine hadn’t cracked or snapped but I thought I might as well get the upgraded one anyway - which has also been fine ever since.
