You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Just had email about what I need for mega avalanche. It doesn't make must since to me, says I need a ucc license or doctors medical, I have neither but I took muiltsport insurance and a separate sports insurance and that's all I had two years ago. If anyone has experience could help please
That's all you need if you have the insurance.
Or a Dr's letter, usually written by Dr Microsoft Word.
LOLZ...
Docotrs are getting more likely to refuse to sign these requests nowadays..for the £30 they may get for it, it can open them up to a whole world of litigation if anything happens.
I mean - I could say you were fit and healthy, but then you pass out mid race and wipe out the lead row....is it my fault you are no longer fit and healthy?
Often the insurers will chase up cases like this, so it's just not worth signing..

There's a template on the website you can get your "doctor" to fill in.
Needs an "official stamp"
😉
my doctor sorted me out, but then he's my mate. Just say it's for cycling, he/she should encourage such things.
If only there was a willing Dr on a friendly cycling forum who would do it for you.

Sh1te out of luck then.
Looks like they've moved the goal posts....
My message to them...
Hi guys can you clear up the medical certificate requirement? In previous years taking out the Assurance seemed to cover this. Is this not the case this year? Lots of us are going to struggle to get signed certificates in time!
Got this response...
Hi! Yes the medical certificate is now mandatory if you are not licenced, thanks for your understanding
Now asked if a valid BC racing license counts - can't see why it wouldn't.
Loads of people are going to get caught out by this. Or lots of forms are going to be signed by Dr Nick Riviera. Hi Everybody!
Have heard from BC that a BC race license will cover it.
Not heard back from UCC though.

How much did the BC licence work out at?
It's standard in France to require a med cert for activities/ events. My daughter has to have one for Ballet. It's no big deal. It's just part of French life. It's an alien thing to most Brits.
The BC licence is usually accepted, but sometimes you need a covering letter or cert available from BC for international racing...it's a bit of a work-around because the french assume because you have a licence you have a med cert (you need a med cert to get a licence here).
It's not a liability issue: Only a brit mind works like that!!! You could likely very easily get one at a french doctors, probably work out cheaper for you as well! Certainly cheaper than getting a BC licence just for the event.
BC Race licenses aren't cheap, have only kept mine as I get my standard BC membership covered by BC as I'm a welfare officer for a BMX club.
Interesting post mugsy.
Past couple of years mine has been one I wrote myself on word. NHS logo image search on google, bang that on the top of the letter and hey presto.
When it comes to registering they just chuck em all in a massive box.
If that doesn't work you can just buy their insurance there which I don't think is that much.
I did it on a BC Bronze license once, which at the time was free.
Bc race lisence covers it. It's got a uci number hidden in small print somewhere on it.
BC bronze membership gives you a provisional race licence as well as your CRC monthly discount code. I've used that in the past and was accepted for Mega.
Have also done my own "Dr letter" on a previous Mega.
Also used BC bronze and raced Mega with it twice. Only £23 a year and you can make some of that back with Halfords and CRC discounts.
