Currently recovering from a broken ankle so thought I'd try to figure out a way of reducing the extension of my Turbine dropper, which at 150mm is too long for my stumpy legs.

RF license the design from 9point8 but when I've checked with 9point8 they told me that RF specc'd slightly different tube diameters so the 9point8 travel reduction spacers won't fit.

Measuring with callipers I needed a 20mm od x 17mm id x travel reduction length nylon spacer, which was hard to find. In the end I found some 16mm x 20mm pvc tubing, which works perfectly. Because the id is 16mm, not 17mm I had to fit it immediately behind the brake unit, which is the black and gold cylinder just above the brass keys in the above pic. The tube just slots nicely onto the stepped bit between the brake and the main rod. Pic is from mtbr - mine didn't come out very well.

I was initially concerned about using the tubing vs a more robust nylon spacer but it only has to deal with the rebound force (I set mine at 20psi), not rider weight, which is borne by the brake.

Now I know what I'm doing I could probably do this in 20mins, so it's not a difficult job. Thought I'd post up in case others want to reduce their extension height a bit but don;t want to drop down 25mm to the next sized dropper. Easiest to follow the 9point8 vids on youtube for how to install the spacer but note bit above where I mention the spacer goes in a different location to the 9point8 one. You'll need a cassette tool and 7mm threaded bar + nut to disassemble the post. No oil heights to mess with, so I found it much easier than a reverb to work on.

Just be careful when repressurising the post - most shock pumps contain a bit of oil, which will potentially cause slippage of the brake. Best to inflate the post upside down (with valve at the bottom) to minimise the risk.
