do i need to replace the Race Face BB with the same or will a shimano offering fit?

Yes, you need a 30mm BB, which I don't think Shimano do, for example, as their cranks are not 30mm

Hope threaded bb. I have one in black for £60 that I have just taken off a bike. That’s posted with the 30mm specific bb tool.

Wheels Mfg - has a decent external seals as well as the bearing seal and bigger balls - outlasts the rubbish RF ones which I've had corrode after one ride.

Another vote for rotor . Comes with tool and seems to last well.

I use a hope bottom bracket. Found I had to use a few spindle spacers to get the crank spaced equally

TBH I was pretty happy with the raceface BB, it outlasted the crank arms anyway
