Race Face Evolve XC Cranks - Outer Edge Paint Wear - (or any other cranks infact)
I know its a pretty common on painted cranks for the outer edge of the paint to wear through to the bare metal resulting in silver lines, (more so for flats) but what sort of mileage would you expect to of done before this starts ??
I noticed that mine had started to wear the paint to the metal at 100 miles.
Do you think this is reasonable taking into such low usage?
I'm all for battle scares etc on the bike as that's what its there for, but should the paint be so soft wearing? Change of footwear ?
And before you say it, my feet positioning is normal, to me... 😀
Cheers
Yes.
It's a bike, not a handbag.
Get over it.
You're welcome.
The best way to stop this happening is to.
A. Not ride your bike.
B. Strip all the anodising off to start with.
C. Buy silver cranks.
Thanks for that....

Raceface do it almost instantly. On the plus side at least the I-beams look interesting when worn.
True northwind 🙂
Spline wear on the earlier Evolve X-Types is the bigger issue IMHO - there's a fundamental design flaw with them that prematurely kills the driveside axle interface.
Mine were knackered this way long before the arms started to lose their anodizing.
