I know this is a perennial but after being on top of the heating boiler since Sunday my Five Tens are still soggy. Any suggestions for some cheap shoes that will fill the gap while the Elements dry out?
Buy a boot/shoe drier. It's worth it. Really.
^ That. We have bodged one by running our C/H return pipes through a few loops below a shelf, above the boiler. Shoes dry really quickly.
Obviously I need to rephrase my question , what boot dryer do people recommend? A quick Google reveal loads of variations. Needs to be easily portable and hopefully less bulky than taking two pairs of shoes when going away.
You are right though, 5:10's take an age to dry.
Both eldest_oab and youngest_oab have Specialized 2FO's which dry much quicker than our older 5:10's, although none as quick as my Shimano M086 SPD shoes or any of our approach shoes.
I can’t find the exact ones I have but they’re like the ones on the link below. They’re not amazingly quick to dry but within a day or so they’re completely dry. That’s drying in the garage as my cycling shoes aren’t allowed in the house!
Mine are 510 elements too. When it’s really horrifically wet I use some Adidas Terrex mtb shoes instead - they’re not quite as grippy but they dry out much quicker. Still got a stealth sole but I don’t think it’s as soft as the elements. I was pleasantly surprised with them last week - I think I’ve changed pedals since the last time I used them and they were better than I remembered.
I think the furry crocs on the main page the link goes to might hold onto water / mud....
Iv got a pair of Shimano GR7’s, which keep out water pretty well but dry really quickly in my experience. I have the 2020 version and really impressed the the amount of grip.
I've got a pair of the on one shoes.cheap and don't suffer from getting soggy.
I have one of these, it's excellent...

I tend to stick my 5/10s in the wash after a wet ride like Sunday, that way they spin out the worst of the water, then dry a lot faster than just being shoved on the radiator after a ride.
Bought this today in Banbury

It’s big and should do 2 shoes.
Not used yet though.
I normally put a small fan blowing into the tops of shoes.
Spurred into ordering some electric shoe driers which arrived today. They are Husquarna so Swedish ( probably not these days) so should be used to wet shoes.
Mind you if they are as good as the Husky Enduro bike I had in the 80s they will be very fast and blow up on second or third use.
