..........Can I cycle from the A57 end along the top and follow it round to Redmires? Will it be Gravel bike friendly if I'm allowed?
Thanks
yes and yes. totally cheeky but usually quiet, pick your time as ever. It is fairly untechnical and is mostly just grass, mud and a few rocks. Probably better after it's been dry. Slight uphill from the road but not too bad. I've been meaning to revisit.
It's all cheeky (footpath) until you get to the plantation/pole bridleway
It'd be fairly hard going on a gravel bike, I'd have thought.
It’s all cheeky (footpath)
Yeah but the section of the top to the north of the pole / bridleways is probably a lot less contentious. You rarely see anyone on it whereas the south section from the pole bridleway to Burbage is very often crawling with families, walkers, dogs, climbers etc and IMHO strictly reserved for quiet evenings or weekday jaunts.
Thanks all, thinking about doing it on Friday but might hold off till later in the year.
Are you doing gravel and missing all the best bits round there because
a) that's the bike you have with you
b) you just want to ride gravel
c) you are being niche for the sake of it
d) other
It’s definitely cheeky. I don’t think it’s actually a right of way as a footpath though (that’s beneath the edge) so use that in your defence if so required. It’s not a route I’ve ever felt the need to ride on a bike though, more interesting buts to ride, cheeky and legit nearby.

Hmmm. I thought the top of stanage was quite techie, but maybe I'm thinking g more of the popular end

Correct but it's access land.
Edit, mis read!

Who says I'm missing out on all the best bits 🤔😀

It is, but, depending on when OP is planning to go;
That's curious, the Natural England database shows no current temporary restriction on Moscar Moor except for the standing exclusion of dogs.
Personally I'd argue that all CROW land should be open to cycling...the only problem is I believe the area falls in the Peak District National Park and the park byelaws exclude riding bicycles accept on appropriate public rights of way
Rule 20
It's better Stanage to A57 as it's slightly downhill. I've often done it on the Gravel bike and never had an issue with bike or people.

I just did a search on that site (from scratch) and it does return the closures.
