I'm confused - headsets have got so complicated!
For a solaris with a tapered fork , I think I need a bottom Hope 'H' cup for 1.5 steer, and a top Hope '2' cup for 1 1/8 steerer?

Spot on.
For your tapered fork that is all you need (but don't forget to get a start nut and top cap or a head doctor as they don't come with pick and mix).
If you ever want to switch to a straight fork then you need the crown reducer HS136
