I've come to the conclusion that I need some mudguards for my commuter / gravel bike. In the winter I run a skinny(ish) 34c tyre setup and full guards which is fine, but in the summer (April - Oct ish) I like to run fatter 40c front / 38c rear tyres and go off road whenever I can.
However, when it rains I have a problem. I want to keep riding to work but I HATE the wet bum / feet you get when riding in rain without guards. So I need some clip-on guards I think. But I can't seem to find any that will fit such large tyres. I don't need full coverage, but ideally I want more than just an ass-saver type thing.
Any suggestions?
New bike time!
Raceblade Pro XL. They're not perfect but they're just wide enough to work with 40c tyres.
SKS Speedrocker - better coverage than raceblades and can fit in a couple of minutes.
I run with 38mm G-one Speeds no problem.

SKS Speedrocker. Ive binned the Raceblade now
Speedrocker 3rd’d fit quick and easy, stable and rattle free so far. Just be aware of toe overlap on the front with a big guard and big tyre.
Zefal trail if you don't want to spend speedrocker money...

I had to cut the rear clip to fit, so I leave it cable tied on. The front can be slid off the mount easily or removed with simple allen key.
Sslight hijack, sorry, is there a narrower version of the Speedrocker?
They look perfect for the wife's roadbike with no clearance under the stays, but tyres are only 28c.
I use these once the weather improves -

In the proper winter the SKSs go on, but I hate mudguards, so remove them and fit the brackets for a set of the Zefals. When rain is forecast I jam them on. Leave them off the rest of the time.
I love the fact I have £7 mudguards on a £4K Ti bike 🙂

That sounds like it could work - do they just jam onto those metal L-shaped brackets then? They sounds suitably quick to attach...?
They do indeed, takes seconds. I do have to zip tie (removeable type) the front of the rear mudguard to my seat tube to stop it rubbing the tyre, but thats as complicated as it gets.
BTW - jimdoubleyou's link is to the actual gravel bike sized ones.
Oh, I also had to flatten the rear bracket as my Tripster only has an "underneath" hole. Pretty simple though.
Merlin have a small discount on Speedrockers.
