Just procured the above and want to fit to my SS specific dialled love/hate frame.

The frame does not have cable guides and was wondering what those of you with a similar set up use to get around this?

Also I have been reading that SS or 7/8 speed chains can rub on the sprocket guide so can anyone recommend a suitable chain that you are using with the alfine sg 501 version?

Thanks

I am using a 9 sp chain - just so all my bikes use the same powerlinks

My bike has cable guides but does use a full length cable - it would be aeasy to just cable tie it to teh frame

Run mine on a love/hate. i run a full length outer on the underside of the downtube, clipped into a couple of them sticky guides. I've zip tied them to the downtube, as they don't stay stuck for long.

Swap the rear cog out for a nexus version, then you can use any chain you like. ta da

Most Sturmey-Archer cogs will also fit, but make sure you get the 3/32 versions. Made of better stuff too, so should last longer.

I run a Rohloff on my Love/Hate and zip tie the cables to the rear brake hose guide. Of course mine continue down the left seat stay, you would have to cross to the right either in front of or behind the seat tube. In the pictures on the On-One site the Pompetamine uses the vertical dropout anti rotation plates in horizontal dropouts to angle the cable arm up the seat stay. I would imagine the horizontal d/o anti rotation plates would do the same for you.

I've once had a cable tie wear a hole in an alloy frame - jiggling about with grit underneath! Take care where you put them and make sure they always stay tight!

along the chain stay i run my cable inside a neoprene protector and on the down tube i have it taped every six inches to the rear brake hose with black insulation tape, seems quite effective as i've been asked a couple of times how i'm enjoying my singlespeed? added a couple of photos, you can't see much but then there ain't much to see.

alternatively, what about these self adhesive cable guides

I use cable ties or insulating tape (Black tape on a black frame) on my Cotic Simple and use a 1/8th BMX chain with a Nexus cog which doesn't come with guides so theres no issues with rubbing

Thanks all. I'll try the chain slap protector method with a few zip ties/insulation tape! I'll post some pics once sorted!
