My road bike is a Whyte Stirling with 700c wheels which need replacing. Both front and rear are quick release.

Wiggle have a sale on these Mavic wheelsets:

http://www.wiggle.com/mavic-crossride-29er-wheelset-2015/

Q1 - how much difference in diameter is a 29er from a 700?

Q2 - the front hub of the Mavic looks to be thru-axle. Can this be converted? Found plenty of info on converting from QR to TA but not the other way.

TIA.

🙂

29er is 700C

Although it's usually considerably wider to cope with bigger tyres, so it depends on your tyres. They'll also be heavier and probably stronger than necessary.

For converting the axle, if it doesn't come with adapters then you need this

Or this (nukeproof also do similar adapters, the good thing about 15mm is as its 100mm wide, they should all work) sometimes get recommended as it's slightly stiffer as it's a whole axle.

Q1 - the rims are the same diameter, but likely different widths to support thinner/fatter volume tyres

Q2 - yes… expect it to cost you about £15
