Good afternoon all. Quick Q. I have just bought a VW rack for my van - the one that clips on the back door (not on tow bar but guess same would apply) and I've noticed that when I put my L Singular Rooster on it the wheels stick out further than my wing mirrors. Guessing this is a common issue. So what do you do?  remove front wheel and try and secure forks some other way?  just hope you don't need to drive through narrow gaps etc?

Turn the front wheel through 180degrees if the cables allow it.  Works great with my XL Geometron.

Legally you can overhang by 305mm.

I've never really given it much thought, apart form on narrow lanes where oncoming traffic might misjudge it, it's no more of an issue not driving into things than roof bars are with height restrictions.  Except very few places are narrow enough for it to be an issue. A The largest Geometron is  7ft which is what most bollard width restrictions are set to.  There are narrower 6ft6 restrictions (the narrowest I've seen designed to stop even transit vans, although they'll fit with the mirrors in) but they're pretty uncommon.

Maybe get some reflective ties (those snap bands you can get to hold your trousers out the chain while commuting) to put on the tyres?

Practically could you not mount something like a sea sucker rack vertically?

Are you sure it sticks out further than the wing mirrors? Even my 1350mm wheelbase Geometron - so approx 2100mm overall length - is less than the 2275mm width of my Transit Custom inc mirrors (2032mm exc mirrors).

I'm assuming you're taking about a T5/6 and not something smaller.

I've got a tailgate-mounted rack and have carried my previous Geometron on it once. Rack only ever used for the kids' bikes normally.

My 2XL Hightower is longer than my car width when on my rear rack and I don't care! I'm just very careful when I'm parking!!

Tbh, I'm not sure why you even think this is a problem - you'll get used to the extra width very quickly

I'm more paranoid about my bike/rack/car being tagged by dozy drivers not leaving enough clearance when manoeuvring than my own driving incompetence 😆
