If I change my spring cartridge from a 150mm Talas to 140mm Vanilla do I need to do anything to adjust the damper side (which is RL open bath on my fork)
If not, do I even need to touch the damper side in this procedure? From looking at various videos and tech guides it seems I should be able to remove the Talas cartridge, put in the Vanilla, throw some oil in the left leg and that's it?
The Talas cart. will need to be de-pressurized, depending on the model (I,II or III) maybe another chamber as well as the air valve.
You'll need to remove the lowers to make the job easier so you might as well clean the lowers out and change all the oil too. 😀
Thanks Simon. So I don't have to do anything to "shorten" the damper going from 150 to 140. Good to know.
I knew to depressurise the air spring (good tip though) but I didn't know about the other chamber (IFP?). It's a 2012 Talas 150-120
For the Van conversion, Mojo quoted £88 for the 4 parts - excluding spring. I'll email you for a quote too. I guess Float conversion would be cheaper but I can't shake the idea that I'd prefer the plushness of coil. Maybe at 140/150mm I'm just fooling myself, I'm hardly a hardcore freeride hucker...
I've just checked your website and I'll certainly be buying my 26mm socket from you - half the price of Mojo!
No need to do anything to the damper cart. Talas II system just needs the air valve removing to de pressurize.
Yep can quote on springs and things for the job too.
