Is the route across the Golf Course from Linnets Clough, following Crown Edge and dropping to the bottom of Strawberry Hill considered too cheeky and off limits??

I'm assuming that a bit of common should be used if there are Golfers about as don't want to be hit by a stray or purposeful ball.

Cheers

Fine in the evening - Recall you need to cross a fairway or two towards the top, but it's quieter further down where the path runs alongside / in the woods. A bit brazen in the day, I guess, as you could be riding through people playing.

Cheers GL. I was thinking there might be a route along the tree line rather than crossing the fairway. It'll be in the evening so not to brazen 😉

This is one of my local trails and I ride it on a regular basis, the only thing you really need to watch for are horse riders coming up Strawberry Hill as the corners are blind, and if you're travelling at speed the loose gravel doesn't do you any favours when braking!

I like to ride this section early morning or early evening, that way there is 'less' chance of coming in to contact with other people.

Eurokid - Your on the wrong errr, trail ;-). I'm very familiar with that descent, it was great until they re-surfaced it.

I think he means the Cown edge way through the golf course - the one that goes over the railway line on a footbridge and then puts you down at the river.

ETA - Too slow! He does mean that.

On a related note, even though it would be totally irresponsible and idiotic, anyone else get an almost irresistible urge to ride straight down the fairway and do a massive skid on the green at the bottom? 🙂

(that's not an encouragement BTW. Don't do it!)

You can get at that from the other side (at the top of the trail endurokid mentions, known as "Shielan") - or you could till they put up a stile and a notice saying "please don't ride bikes on the fairway as you damage it".

"don't be a dick" is the prime directive

I've ridden down the golf course there.

It was covered in snow so figured it was ok
