Hey folks,

I rode the Quantocks almost a month ago and the area that I rode was utterly strewn with dead fall after the snow. I'm not a local and was thinking about travelling South again, but I don't know if it's cleared up at all.

I rode up to Dead Woman's Ditch, along Macmillan Way, down the side of the road, Sharkey and Jambo's, Narnia 2, the Chimney, back up to DWD, then crossed the top to Concrete Blockand down into Holford Combe. All of which where nasty to ride due to the dead fall. The chimney was completely unridable due to fallen trees. It's a bit of a trek for me to get there, I was wondering if anyone could let me know how it looks now?

Also it looks like the Forestry guys had gutted some of the end of Sharkey and Jambo's trail. There were signs up saying something about removing trail features. Any info?

Cheers.

There is quite an extensive thread on the previous page.
Sharki's route down to the chimney was ruined a year (maybe a bit more) ago

The past couple of times I've been down I've done half of Sharki and Jambo's, then cut up back to the main trail.
Thanks for the heads up on the other post. I obviously wasn't lookign hard enough!

The trail myself and Jambo put in has slightly changed, though the entrance and end is the same. I can't comment on whether it's currently blocked.
The chimney is all but cleared again, thanks to Brewer, i think he's trying to tackle the last brute of a tree this weekend.
As for the other trails, efforts are being made to clear the trails of fallen trees, but the extent of it is huge.

The FC did have to destroy a trail near to ours as it crossed a Byway at speed, several times and was a hazard, signs were put up at the time over a year back.
Lots of FC work has been done in the Forest over the last 5 months, so perhaps more has gone of the original trail. I does clear the way for another should someone go pixing..

Hey, Sharki. The signs were quite new. I'd ridden your trail a few times. I picked up the route from your Endomondo profile. I'm trying to get some not so local guys down for Sundays clearing, but we've got a lot to do locally currently. We trail pixie Mendips and the local woods.
