I'mmthinking of going to the Quantocks tomorrow. I ride the Triscombe downhill a lot but have never done an XC ride there.

Anyone got any good routes and/or maps to show me the way around?

You need sharki, knottie, Dibbs, etc. Plenty of locals to show you the good stuff.

Unfortunately I'm riding with my mate who's a bit slow to say the least. So I don't think anyone would want to drag us along?

What I'm after is some maps, routes etc.

Thanks for the advice though. Perhaps these peeps will pipe up soonish.

Yep you need a local, not me though as i'm not riding this weekend.

All my routes are in my head and made up on the day so no maps, sorry.

Alot of the main riding is over on the open heath and into the combes, so that's everything north of the Crowcombe to Stowey road.

Beware after recent weather some of the trails will be quite wet(not muddy)

On the map find, frog combe, stert/somerton, slaughterhouse, weacombe, and hare knapp.

There's a main ridge line which gets you to all bar hare knapp, once down in the combe you'll need to get back up top...usual routes are lady's edge(shepherds combe), lady's combe(south end of holford combe) and the Dog pound(, in Holford, look out for the bowling green, (grassy area opp car park) go along road section with bowling green to your left, as road turns right, take a track to the left(past an old square structure), this climbs and gets you back on the great road and leads to beacon hill.

Easiest way is to ask for a guide...

but spends far too much time lying around in streams 🙄

I'd offer to help, but I haven't been given my orders for the weekend by "old bossy boots" yet.

Peeps,

I've managed to find this route map: here.

Do you think this will allow me to find my way around or is there not enough detail?

Not a route for beginners IMHO, it may not look very far but that's the thing about the Quantocks you don't have to go very far before you come to the next gert big hill 🙂

Hard route = 22miles LOL

22 miles on the tox equates to only about 900metres of climbing/descent.

I remember a couple years back being out for a couple hrs, meeting up with jonba and doing another hrs ride, then helping out a couple trying to find the start of a MBR killer loop, so we did that, dropped them back to triscombe then i had to ride back to my car at lydeard hill, i think after riding down with Jon to holford...now thats a hard route 😉

22miles is a bimble! 😉
