I am off to the Quantocks soon for a long weekend.

Has anyone got any recommendations for good routes - approx 20 miles in length - starting at Nether Stowey.

Any must do descents, or climbs to avoid?

We have a map and a compass!

Thanks in advance

The Quantocs are built on an east-west ridgeline. Once you're on the ridge, you can pick anything with 'coombe' in the name (Smiths, Hodders, Holford...), and it'll be awesome.

P.s. Mrs Twiglet_monster has had the maps out tonight. She's been chuckling away suggesting there might be some challenges heading your way....

Unfortunately my 'singlespeed' is not in working order......

There appears to be quite a lot of contour lines on the map for the Quantocks!!!!!

Hodders Combe is a must, one of the prettiest natural trail sections that I know, runs parallel to a beautiful stream, breathtaking. Smiths Combe too, both decent climbs/descents but unforgettable for beauty.

Really? they must have moved since I drove to work across them tonight. 🙄

weacombe is a nice way to finish.

Not if you're staying in Stowey.

See, local knowledge is gold. 😉

All we need now is some ballroom blitz...

Alright, north-west to south-east. Seemed a pretty straightforward way to explain it to someone who's not familiar with the area.

Perhaps you can offer a better explanation?

Nooooo!!!!

I find it easier to say North South, If you head East you'll end up in Bridgwater and if you head West you'll end up in Minehead and you really don't want to go to either. 😕
