Lets see your quality (i mean bodge) repair jobs

I just picked up a bike for free through Facebook marketplace to strip for parts and it had this lovely carbon repair!

Is there a fork and spoon and knife under there to give it strength? 😂

What is that? Is it some copper pipe that's been bent?

Yep some squashed copper pipe held in place with two jubilee clips

It was wrapped in electrical tape to disguise it more!

Was that a desperate solution out in the field that got him home or a well thought out garage bodge?

If it's done to get him home then fair play. If it isn't then 😂

That’s a bit generous? “Been bent” would suggest that’s someone “bent” it into that shape for a specific purpose? That looks like it’s been dragged from the scrap pile, been run over, thrown back in the scrap pile before someone repurposed it.

As a get you home repair thats impressive! Cheap and readily available bits... even on a Sunday... tied wheels on back in 90s using wire cut off fences when quick release snapped. Similarly repaired chains with bits of wire, used zip ties to fill the gap in a cassette left by a cracked sprocket recently 😳

I dont think this was a get me home repair, once fixed like this i suspect the bike was still used, why else would you fix in the above way then cover it in electrical tape

Oh and the other side has cracked too, not all the way through but enough that fibres are on show

Going by some the other components on the bike like a steerer tube extender to get the bars higher, big sprung gel saddle i think it was repaired and then used for commuting/shopping duties!
