You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've recently ordered a Trek Fuel from my LBS who have ordered it from the distributor. In the meantime I've seen the pictures for the new Giant Trance and really like the look of it. Is it a major pain in the backside to cancel an order like this? I'd still be buying the Giant off them (if I liked it as much as the Trek).
Shouldn't be an issue at all. Unless it was a very odd bike and its already in.
I'd be asking the LBS now. Rather than posting on here.
If they deal in both then say you would like them to get both in for you to compare?
Generally once the LBS has ordered the bike from the distributor it is theirs, they probably can't return it. So if the bike is unusual (ie, really big, or small, or end of year) then expect them to be a little peeved about you changing your mind. If it's a Med or Large and they are likely to be able to sell it on to someone else then they will probably be fine about it. But it's their decision. If they are a Giant and Trek dealer I imagine they are quite big, so having one extra bike on display shouldn't be too much of a problem.

This, we didn't just order a bike for you.
If the distributor hasn't dispatched it to the store then it shouldn't be a problem. Have they taken payment or a deposit? Even if a bike arrives here we are able to return it, obviously only if we've not built it. This all presuming it's not some custom build jobby.
Now, if you'd just used your lbs for advice on which was the better bike, and sat on a few to assess fit before buying the bike internet mail order you wouldn't have this problem, would you?
I hope any deposit was only in the form of biscuits?

You're absolutely right. I'm prone to utterly pointless posts. Will give them a bell.
Next question - arse wiping...front to back or back to front?
