Jacking off Portugal. The drive north for a few weeks worth of riding isn't exciting me enough and besides, we need to be in Italy for July.
Any tips for spots on either the Spanish or French sides? Lift assisted or pedal up. Somewhere you can park up with the van a bonus.
Was in the Pyrenees back in 2017, but it was a bit of a whistle stop tour although we had a few days riding in Bagneres du Luchon, Saint Lary and somewhere else I can't remember. Most of these places were silly cheap for a lift pass compared to most places in the alps. Also rode some great trails somewhere towards Perpignan that was fun.
AĆnsa still a place to head for?
Loads of trails near Ainsa and you can stay on the carpark/Aire up at the old town, uplift/ guides are available or you can follow the waymarked trails(theres an app too)
I've not ridden here but we were looking at property in the area (we have a family property in Perpignan) so was checking it out for DH stuff and from what I remember at the time it had a decent scene & trails.

Cauterets is decent and was extremely quiet last time i rode there
We stayed in Chipp's gite in Fuilla, lots of riding from the door. Would love to go back and have a proper explore.
Look at the size of that link, sorry!
I did 2 weeks in Ainsa last year, its incredible.
So much riding with gpx and signs for all of them. I intend to return to Ainsa again and again for a good few years yet
Not easy physically and some decent tech on the right trails.
However, we did Easter and it was lovely, July time could be very hot for all the climbing
On the med side, Les Angles can get busy as there's only the gondola lift running all summer and the trails can get wrecked during dry spells. Avoid it over the July 14th weekend this year because of the DH race. If neither of these two points are an issue go for it, it's a nice human sized place and you'll never get lost because you'll probably end up riding the red line all afternoon.
Over the border, 45 minutes away is La Molina. Well worth a day's visit, probably more. For some reason all the Spanish punters go to LA. The runs from the gondola start off playing nicely but once they drop below the treeline are more enduro than bike park. The runs from the chairlift are epic flow trails for party laps.
Then there's le train jaune as there's not much better than public transport for uplifts. Different routes depending on which side of the valley to ride down and where you decide to finish. The train ride alone would be worth a stay at Monsieur frite's.
