Help me decide! (first world problem content)
Have been pondering a new gravelish bike for far too long now (£2kish, steel or Titanium, 650b/700c compatible) and have finally narrowed it down to these two.
The Tempest is the sensible option £1800 for full Ultegra (I already have hydro's to fit) leaving me enough for a wheel upgrade plus it's available almost off the shelf. Can't find any reviews online though.
If I was to buy the Secan it would be frame only and build it up myself (which I would enjoy) but would have to spend a little more to get a similar spec. It had a rave review recently on road.cc and would feel more 'special' (important as this is a big purchase for me) but there is a 3 month lead time.
Head says Tempest, heart says Secan
for specialness I think it would have to be the Fairlight wouldn't it?
the secan is lovely
I waited 5 months for a Fairlight Strael frameset. It's pretty special, and was worth the wait.
Not sure a PX would ever be on my radar at this level .
I bought a Secan and therefore I recommend that. Seriously though it's a bloody dream .
Thanks for the replies.
I had dismissed the Secan at first after seeing the full bike prices but then saw the frame only option.
If I use some existing components (and a bit of man maths) I can just afford a nice build.
I guess what I should be asking is - is the Secan worth the extra cost over the Tempest?

It'll probably not make you faster or more comfortable than the PX and will definitely make you poorer but only you know if it'll make you happier 🙂
If you're wavering about the price but you like the idea of steel, what about a cotic escapade with the full carbon fork option?
I've had a few on one/planet x bikes & should be getting my new pickenfick tomorrow. But for £1800 i would say go for the Secan. You'll probably keep it for a lot longer & wont be p1ssed off when you get the inevitable email in 6 weeks time saying the bike you just bought is now £300 cheaper.
