You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My 26 Soul is a medium and I could really do with a large. I could just by a 26 large frame second hand or I was thinking of futureproofing things a bit by getting a large 650b frame.
Now obviously this would drop the BB but as everyone is banging on about LLS these days is that a bad thing?? I have 140mm Revelation forks so that could balance things out a bit.
Sound ok or worst idea ever?
My BFe 275 is absolutly fine with 26 wheels and forks.A few more pedal strikes but that is all I notice. I am looking to upgrade to 650b forks as discussed in another thread, but that is to future proof not bcause I am unhappy with the ride.
You'll be fine. The lower BB will be great fun in corners though get ready for a few more pedal strikes. I'd still aim to upgrade the forks and wheels to 650b at some point though as that's what the frame's designed for.
For reference, I've got 26ers in a 650b Bird Aeris 1.5 with 160mm 26er forks (same A2C as 150mm 650b forks). BB currently sits just under 330mm and I've not yet died.
it's 12-15mm lower.
pedal strikes are 99% user error.
Most LLS evangelists haven't ever ridden a properly low BB height
lifting the front will take a tiny bit more effort but if you can manual you'll dial into it in 3 tries. it WILL corner nicelier.
Which Soul model exactly? And are they the 26 or 650b forks?
my son has 26 inch wheels on his transition scout with no issues. also has a 26 inch fork on it but with 10mm more travel so lifts it up the same as a 27.5 pike.
pedal strikes are 99% user error.
Strong words geex!
I dont dissagree, but i do thik the % depends on the terrain.
