You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Once upon a time, and for quite a long time, my go-to bike was always my Mark 1 Tinbred. We went everywhere together, local rides, racing, trail centres, even across the Himalayas.
Then along came a full susser and an assortment of niches - various singlespeeds, more recently a fatbike - and the tinbred was resigned to hanging at the back of the garage.
Last weekend, as I was full of cold and didn't fancy riding, I raided the parts bin and put it all back together. There's some reasonable bits on it, if fairly old (and unfashionable now) - although it is 1x9.
So now its just sat there looking forlorn. Last night, I chose the fatbike over the tinbred. The tinbred is faster, lighter - but I've been there and done that. Moved on to new things.
Just thought I'd share this. I feel a bit guilty, which is an odd emotion to apply to a bike, having built it up and just left it. But here's a couple of pictures of it anyway. No idea what I'll do with it now!

If you've had your moneys worth out of it give it to someone who'll ride it
Looks great!
Maybe ride it at least once to decide if it has a part in your riding life now. If not sell it/ move it on.
But you won't know unless you ride it one more time.

take a picture of it, post up on forum, then pop on classifieds ? 🙂

Ha! No I'm not that obvious. TBH I don't think its worth much / worth selling as the frame had a crack once. Its been fixed, but can't imagine anyone buying a previously cracked frame for anything worth selling for.
I'll perhaps mothball it until it becomes a classic 😉
Conversely, I put my bike together a couple of weeks ago with a frame purchased on eBay, then spent a week in Scotland hammering the lovely thing!
Was brilliant 🙂

It's built up with parts you didn't need on other bikes, parts that were probably replaced by better parts. Why would you choose to ride it over a bike you've spent more effort buying/building?
slower than your full sus
not as fun as your fat bike
simple,
Turn it into a half-fat?

I got a reasonable sum for my Soda. Probably a more desirable bike but also more common, Tinbreds probably have their own appeal. I'd have made you an offer, this time last year...
Far more subtle than the usual "what's my bike worth?" Astro turfing. 9/10.
