I built a singlespeed.
@ tomhoward
Thank you now I don't feel as bad its worse trying to explain it to the boss "but its the same bike ?" .....
Northwind, what size and do you want it invisiframed first?
andyv’s comment is on point.
My current bike, a Rocky Mountain Vertex CF hardtail is the best bike I have ever owned, I absolutely love it.
But I just ordered a Fat Chance Yo Eddy steel frame which cost more than the entire Rocky bike together. I know it won't be better, it'll certainly be heavier, but I just really really REALLY like it and have wanted one for 25 years.
Had my 5 re-powdercoated 18 months ago so took the opportunity to upgrade the wheels, brakes and forks. This meant that my Hope BB, Superstar headset and Reverb (silver collar) didn't match the new scheme. Changed the lot despite it all working perfectly! The headset and BB were hidden from view and the Reverb could have been sorted with a bit of work with a Sharpie 😀
All my bikes also have engraved top caps despite every one also having a Garmin mount that covers them up completely... 😳
I have a new job that requires a lot more driving than the old job (~6000km) so I'm looking for a new diesel estate so I can have the bike in the back on the QT.
A 8 year old focus or something similar would do, but for some reason I'm looking at a ~180bhp Mazda 6 instead, which'll cost twice as much and isn't really needed as our other car is a 7 seat behemoth of a thing.
Tioga disc drive. £600 worth of flexy rear wheel that was destined to fail at any point.
Totally worth it because of the RUMBLE.
< fires up ebay >
bought a sqlabs saddle to match the grips i won on facebook!
Castelli Gabba's/Perfetto's - I really can't wear all 3 of them at once.... At least they are all same colour for minimal detection by Domestic Line Manager 🙂
I'd go as far as to say everything I own that relates to cycling!
When I sold the cheap bike I had (I didn’t like it) I bought a 2nd hand Ribble Carbon frame in red and black with white accents. This was the start of a very slippery slope, as it was also the time another forum I belong to released their kit, which was also white and black with red accents. This meant I had to have black and white shoes, and then get a set of matching Oakleys, which didn’t exist! Wasn’t a problem, a separate order for ear socks, nose pads and arm covers, then new lenses and I had matching glasses! Then I just had to have a red and black helmet to finish off, so ended up with a Kask K50.
The problem then really kicked in for my OCD, as I’d spec’d a full Tiagra groupset for the bike, I had to change the levers for 105, as I couldn’t have the cables coming out of the sides of the levers. The cables had to come out the back to be hidden by the grip tape.
The Inbred didn’t fair me much better. The frame was black, so the cable outers had to contrast so are red. The 32t NW is red, the rest of the groupset is black, and the hope hubs are red. Recently I bought a wide ratio cassette, which came in two colours, silver or black. I ordered the black one, because the sprockets would match the frame, and the alloy carrier is red and matches the hub! The QR’s are also red, as is the BB!
I'm not vain, honest!
Not too sure if anything I have could be classified as "vanity". What I do have are lots of new replacement parts (mechs, chain rings etc.) but I do have 4 sets of Griffos, 4 sets of Limus, 2 sets of baby Limus and 2 sets of Almanzos, then there's the 2 sets of Gravel Grinders. Obvz these are all for the CXer, I get through 2 sets of Griffos a year and I change tyres depending on conditions etc. So I guess none are vanity items, just replacement.
All these people with matching bikes...
We need pictures!
I bought a Chris king headset for my cargo bike because I've always wanted one since I was a kid....I've always known they are mechanically flawed but stuff it its satisfied a want..and straight external headtubes are getting less and less common ..does nothing an FSA orbit wouldn't have done....
Pair of Ti King cages to go on one of the Ti's. 😳 Heck ... 3 of the bikes were vanity purchases. Silly woman. 🙄
A second full suspension bike so I could descend faster. In my defense, the first has 26" wheels and I cannot sell it for much, so I kept it for XC rides.
Not very spendy, but completely un-necessary yet vitally important - bottle cage bolts in black / polished Ti because the (un-used) bosses are on corresponding black / polished parts of the frame... and pretty much the rest of that bike while we're at it.

Not in the same league as many but I bought my Orange Crush after years of wanting an Orange. It's the 2013 model so was black and white (C2W scheme, last one in shop) and didn't scream "Orange" as I would've hoped. The answer; spend £30 on Orange's website for some orange Orange stickers. Then another tenner on Flandria.com for some stickers with my name on. 2 on the Crush, 1 each on the CX and the BMX
