Three of us off down that way in a few weeks - looking for a couple of 30ish mile XC type loops & a B&B to stay Friday night with safe bike storage within walking distance of a good pub/restaurant.
Any suggestions?
We're over there a lot. It's fanastic for cross country rides, loads of options tbh.
This is cracking route, it was from the Dorset Rough Riders DRRt few weeks back.
When I lived down south we used to do a cracking ride starting at the Sandbanks ferry then work our way over to Corfe then on over to the ranges at Lulworth. Follow coast back to Swanage and then back to the ferry. Probably the sort of distance you are after. Definately XC. Sorry no specifics but we used O/S maps and all legal I remember - well it was back in the 90s.
Corfe has pubs and cafes. I like the Model Village cafe, it's has nice quiet little courtyard with room for bikes.

Last time I was there I left my map in the hotel and got myself completely disorientated because the coast goes north-south, not east-west. (Don't ask - even I'm not sure what I was thinking.) Had a good ride though.
This is a shorter route, one I'd knock out early Sunday mornings. There is a very sharp climb up through Kingswood! But it takes in some nice views and cakey stop in Corfe.

Ideal, that first route looks spot on.
It's very busy this time of year but Kingston Country Courtyard has a lot of rooms and sometimes has the odd room available. Always best to phone them and ask, rather than rely on their online booking system.
Purbeck ice cream.
Make sure you have some.
anyone know how bad' the gorse is going down franks tank trail and across the common past the big stone at the moment ?
This threads reminded me i've not ridden down in purbeck ages might give it a go this weekend
Have a word with Charlie the Bike Monger. I'm sure he could give you a few pointers.
"Where are ye headed for?"
"For Corfe!"
The longer route above is a good one.
Joe's cafe on South beach Studland and the Square & Compass Worth Maltravers are good stops and perhaps a swim at Chapmans Pool..
A couple of weeks ago the gorse wasn't too bad, prickly enough to get your attention but not all your blood...
If you are down there Saturday 20th feel free to join my annual Seaside Shuffle 😎
We have stops for ice cream at the seaside and a pilgrimage to the Square and Compass at Worth Matravers for home made pasties and cider 😁😁😁😁😁

Gorse is ok, tourists are a PITA though 😉
