Pearson currently have some nice looking waterproofs on sale for £70, just what I needed for winter gravel, nothing too pricey so I'll be less squeamish about dragging it through mud and undergrowth, a bit bright with some reflectives but not fluoro yellow (shows the mud daaarling!).

Very friendly enthusiastic chat when phoning to check sizing, seem like good guys to deal with 👍

That's f****** ridiculous, I paid £300 for the same rims on DT 370 hubs in the summer and thought I'd got good VFM. Should just have bought 4 pairs of those!

I've been dithering over building/rebuilding a cheap commuter as the office is moving and I don't think I can face the extra distance on the OFO every day. At this rate I should just all the bling PSA's and have something nicer than my MTB!

Will you lot please stop with the PSA ? I’ve bought a turbo trainer and sensors even though being ideologically opposed  to cycling indoors when there’s the great outdoors!! I’m currently fashioning a tin foil hat to protect myself…

If I hadn't blown all my money I'd get a pair of those wheels just so I could swap tyres easily.

GRX 400 1x10 Shifters/Brakes can be had for £80 a side.

I was thinking about pairing them with a GRX 812 mech and one of the bargain m4100 11-46 cassettes.

https://www.wiggle.com/p/shimano-grx400-1x10-speed-hydraulic-disc-brake

Wish I'd bought the Digger frame for £130 and those carbon £135 wheels now! Could have had an amazing gravel bike under £600!

That would have been awesome.

Still worth grabbing those cheap GRX bits if you're after a gravel bike, other deals will pop up.

Those wheels are slightly rubbish SRAM hubs and the pinned RF rims aren't they? Like even worse ARCs? I weigh just over 70kg and tend to be lightish on wheels, but I killed a set of ARCs pretty swiftly.

@submarined - interesting, the wheels you're referring to are the carbon gravel ones? Or the cheap Prime road ones mentioned earlier?

OTOH, I considered buying one of the stupidly cheap turbos, even as a lifelong indoor training refusenik. Now that I haven't, I'm in the happy position of never being able to buy one when I could have had one for a tenner. Someone would literally have to force it into my hands. Psychology... Weird init.

Does the GRX 812 work properly with the grx 10 speed shifters? I was looking at switching from a double 10 speed to that but would mean switching derallieur and I might get another chainset for single ring?

Pretty sure grx 400 and tiagra 4700 both have the same pull ratio as 11 speed. I use the 10 speed tiagra 4700 mech with 11 speed shifter no issue.

Cheers for the information. Yes, i know tiagra and grx are officially the only ones what work with each other via shimanos information but as they run on the same pull ratio then it should be fine? I see the 812 mech is rated as 42t max but I read that it works with a 46t. Is that with b screw adjustment or just as is. Sounds like a good potential build there as mentioned. What are you thinking for chainset, a 40-42 single ring chainset up top. The mech is £69 which sounds a lot still to me for a mech. Is that slightly reduced price too. I could always sell the grx400 mech I guess and put towards the 812.

@edward2000

I bought these a few weeks back; they cost me £210 + £64 VAT and duty; they are intended for light weight eMTBs (but I suspect would work equally well on a full fat bike)….   https://www.bike-discount.de/en/dt-swiss-hx-1700-ls-29-30mm-boost-shimano-micro-spline-laufradsatz

Those sram/raceface wheels are a decent buy at that price but they weren't really worth the RRP, the Arc rims are fragile for the weight and the hubs are just OK. But even so, complete working wheels for buttons

Can the SRAM/Raceface rear wheel be adapted to QR by changing end caps? I don't think it can, but I get confused by the different standards, figured it's worth checking.

I doubt it as they are boost hubs so they are wider bodied.

I have the sram mth / arc wheels from a base Santa Cruz build a few years ago. I did a bit of research on them and the hubs are described by many as disposable in terms of longevity and are hard/ impossible to adapt to many standards. Expecting to get 6 months out of them I relegated them to a hardtail build where oddly they have been utterly faultless for two years in all conditions/abuse. That said for £80 I now have a spare set

Rapha goretex jacket half price with code WINTER popped up in my email this morning.

Don't have one and probably can't justify another jacket, but looks like a pretty good deal for someone.

I'm 172cm, and looked at the geo, with the 90mm stem looks close enough in reach to my hardtail, with plenty of scope to drop bar it (got a mechanical 2x9 setup in my cupboard so would only need a cassette)

btw the mach 1 frames are bolt through, mach 3 are qr so it seemed to make more sense to me anyway

I fancied trying the range of 2x

They look perfect for a singlespeed flatbar hybrid gravel winter bike type thing. Plenty of spares box bits that could go on it too.

Ah well since there was a Nerf recommend... The Echo linked above is decent enough but what you want is a Doublepunch.

https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/construction-and-cars/nerf/nerf-elite/nerf-elite-2-0-double-punch-blaster/p/224089

Battery powered (and like all the battery guns is a wee bit weak on normal batteries) but the double action firing is awesome. Comes with more darts which is always nice. This is one of the best new nerf guns for years and it's been on some sort of crazy prize war for the last couple of months. Likewise the Motoblitz

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motoblitz-Blaster-Motorised-Blasting-Airblitz/dp/B09XXJS55G?th=1

The pump action thing isn't as good for smaller kids, because it only fires as hard as you can pump it.

Lastly if you don't necessarily want darts, this is ridiculous value. The balls are nerf rival compatible and they last forever, unlike darts where they wear out/get stepped on. The balls do hit a bit harder, and it's fiddly to load- these are marketed as for teenagers- and they roll under stuff like nobody's business but that's why you get 62.
https://www.very.co.uk/x-shot-chaos-mix-combo-pack-respawn-fazenbsp12-dart-balls-and-faze-50-dart-balls-refill/1600750008.prd?_requestid=1985064&Ntt=x%20shot

crumbs they do don't they. I've been debating one this afternoon as with the shorter seat tube than the reactor I could get away with a 200mm dropper.... but I don't think it will fit in the seat tube!

Ahh you mean the existing bend in the seat tube.  Thinking of getting a Fox Transfer Performance Elite Dropper Seatpost to go with it. XL frame.  Saddle normally 82cm from centre BB. Need to do some research... ah Vitus site says 270mm max insertion. Should be fine...

Can't blame them really. Ironically I guess this represents the zenith of the CRC price gouging philosophy - they were always prone to selling stuff for less than you could buy it for trade.

If the newer Escarpe frameset is too pricey, the 2020 model is back in stock, Large only at £399:

Surely the Fox Factory shock and carbon frame are worth £200 though?

Nukeproof Cub kids frames with 88% off, reduced to £50 on Wiggle:

20" wheeled

24" wheeled

26" wheeled are out of stock.

Not sure quite how much of a bargain as you'd still need to source all the bits to build them up, might better suited to upgrade the frame on an existing bike perhaps.

Also (and I thought I saw this deal posted somewhere on here already but can't find it now), Boost 29er wheelsets for £87 with SRAM hubs and RaceFace rims. Not the best choice of either but at that price worth it: Front and Rear.
