40% off pedals at Superstar Components for this week - www.superstarcomponents.com sorry, there’s some security feature that is preventing me from copying and pasting links! Anyone any ideas as I know it’s a money earner for STW..

100% - not just VFM, shimano functionally better than anyone else's IMO and  LOOK better than XT with the only weight difference is in the chainring (XT has a carbon carrier/steel ring).

Anyone after a cheap 1/4 ratchet, just picked this one up. Quality is actually very good, although obviously it isn't snap-on at this price. Feels nice. It's very compact and has a 1/4 hex on the handle so you can use it like a screwdriver. You can have square or hex on the ratchet. Has the makings of a nice compact portable tool kit

The SLX cranks come up rather nicely if you leave them in a bag of oven cleaner for 5 mins as well ?

My ghost(ly) wheels turned up today (thanks for the enjoyable banter!)

27mm internal width according to my micrometer, so 1mm extra free 😀

Asymmetric rims, bladed spokes, tubeless taped and tubeless valves included.

1498g with tape. Well happy.

lovely looking aren't they!!  tubeless setup was pretty painless for me also, no need to get the compressor on board.. just wiggled the tyre bead a bit and went for the track pump, literally my only bugbear was centrelock, but when you are dealing with wheels at that weight, that's what you expect

Mtb shorts £6-10 depending on size and colour

I bought these for my eldest 2 this summer and they've held up really well, good length, size up a bit skinny on the waist, but good adjuster, no liner, deep pockets.

Not heard of the brand before but very impressed

Just a word of warning - bare alloy doesn't stay looking good for long outside without polishing at the best of times, let alone on a bike that's splashed through muddy puddles.

Mega deal on a Fox DHX if you run a trunnion 205x65 flavour: https://www.bike-discount.de/en/fox-racing-shox-dhx-performance-2pos-adj-trunnion-shock-1

Only issue is the min order is €175 so you need to make it up with a pair of socks or something.

Ex Demos - Current version Levo SL Comp Carbon - under 3 grand. Dont wait around, theres not many left (one less, than there was this morning, in fact!).

I've seen them - they are mint. Under 100 miles. Barely look used. You'll do more damage the day you buy it leaning it on the garage wall.  Ignore what it says on the website ref stock, you need to ring them - like, now. 1 sold on the phone whilst I was waiting in line. Will be gone by Friday I bet.

Good shop too, nice guys who know there stuff. Lucky to have them locally.

shame the click n collect requires payment as british cycling has a 10% code instore. that seems to be valid alongside the park tools promo

Thanks for the £229 Pixel 8a, amazing deal.

Strange setup though, the deal is only available via ee.co.uk and not via store.ee.co.uk, and the free earphones link takes me to a business-only deal. It looks like there is an equivalent personal deal though. It'll be a nice bonus if it works.

tempted, although i dont need one right now, i may do in the next year and usually just go for whatever moto or redmii type phone is decent value at the time.

is it worth getting one of these while theyre so cheap do you think?  i only use very basic functions, no need for AI or owt like that, just decent camera and usual phone/chat type use.

and are the free earbuds supposed to be any good?  might offset some of the cost if theyre better than the bog standard ones i have at the moment.

cheers

Rawvelo gels, bars and drinks currently have some discount codes, the headline being 40% off everything using 40over60. Highly recommended if you want energy or recovery products without a load of extra guff in them. The gels are my go to, either blood orange or passionfruit - both flavours actually taste really good.

Sadexpunk, did a bit of reading and looks like Google are doing OS updates for the 8a for 7 years so should be able the keep it for a good while. Maybe worth paying the £40 extra for the 256mb version though as it doesn't have an SD slot and no doubt the app sizes and OS will continue to grow.

Just need to not drop this one!

what does that mean to the techno-ignorant please?  what happens when someone stops doing updates?  i have a redmi phone at the moment, no idea if it gets updates at all.  and 256mb.  do you mean Gb?  not sure id use even the 256 really as like i say i rarely use it for anything other than calls, whatsapp, messenger, internet and camera (photos stores on google photos).  i rarely download any new apps and im not a heavy user.

thanks

@sadexpunk

Check your current phone in the settings to see how much storage is being used. I wouldn't consider myself a heavy user but checking it's 78Gb being used.  My existing phone is 256 so no worries but for an extra £40 I would opt for 256 just for plenty headroom going forward if replacing it.

Very tempted by the Pixel 8a at that price but my current phone does what I need.

When the updates stop, it'll mean things like your banking app, authenticator etc (anything needing to be secure), will stop working.

You might still be able to login thru the web browser but that also might not get security upgrades. So web shopping would be riskier.

Still ok to browse the web, set calenders etc though. I'd suspect in 7 years the battery would have minimal life left each day anyways.

It means nothing of the sort. I've a phone that's well past it's updated life still happily running banking apps etc. it just means your phone isn't receiving security and such updates.

It's not automatic, but if your bank does implement something new on the security front, they can and will stop supporting older phones

Google Pixels are some of the better options for android updates. They'll likely be supported long after others aren't. In most cases you might not get the latest android version but you'll still get security updates for years - more than the normal life of a phone.

good point, just checked.  im on 114Gb of available 128gb, so itll be pushing it soon i guess.  or will i?  i dont know whats adding to that.  i suppose all pics/videos will as they stay in my gallery as well as google photos yes?

thanks

When my phone was getting full up, it turned out the bulk of the memory was taken up by podcasts that I'd stopped just before the end.

Went through my pod app and got it back down to about 50gb

About the same,  I found them to be slightly wider in the foot. In general I find them to be pretty true to size.

Because they are winter shoes it might be worth going up slightly though to wear warmer socks

Thanks, I'm a 10 in FiveTens, they've got the Vaudes in 9.5 or 10.5 but no 10!
I could order a 9.5 and 10.5 but I don't really want the expense/hassle of returning a pair.

Cheapest price for an amazing set of winter flat pedal shoes.

And extra 15% off with BF15 code...   I've got on a pair on the way (having bought 2 pairs from Amazon that are going back as wrong size).  Really hoping they're going to be wide enough in a 46 (which I think is the size I wear in Specialized and 5:10, though in proper shoes with a good last I'm a UK10)

Really does look like the best winter flat boot.

this is the Vaude size chart from the box.

@graham1980  it worked on Friday night on those shoes.  I looked yesterday because I was going to post them on this thread but they had gone up quite a bit to about 160 (I know they do live FX rates from Euro-GBP but seemed more than that)

Did seem strange that they were giving BF discount on stuff that was already heavily discounted - maybe that was a mistake and they've tweaked it.

Gore have an additional 25% off sale with code BFVIP25 - I already own the jacket linked below but I went with my usual size last year and it’s snug around the shoulders and chest so I only tend to use it for running, it’s a great jacket for most of the winter, not fully waterproof but much more useable imo. Size up 1 size from your regular size unless you are built more like a roadie. Works out at £75 down from £200.

DJI Mini 4 Pro Drone and  DJI RC 2 (remote control with screen) down to £559. Expensive but over £300 cheaper than comparator sites.
