How exactly it this better than individual PSAs, you know individual ones are worth clicking on by the title, constantly checking this and going to the last page is an irritating waste of time for the most part. This is the last time I’m checking.
I’ve seen a few things recently that I would have thrown on this thread but couldn’t be bothered doing a thread for ??♂️
Jamis Dakar full-susser
https://www.blacks.co.uk/19628335/jamis-dakar-full-suspension-mountain-bike-19628335
~£765 with code. Possibly a chance of quidco or top cash back as well?
mucoff 30% off sitewide,
not much in stock, highlight is 20 x 10ml chamois cream satchets (mens or womens) for £8.40,
unfortunately they'll only let you add 2 packs to basket, [the tub is reduced to £21 for 250ml, so decent price and easy for bikepacking/trips away etc.]
delivery england wales add £3.50 (more elsewhere) or Free on £30 spend
I quite fancy one of those ydun tents, but does anyone know how waterproof they are?
I can’t find any mention of them even being waterproof
I only really plan on going camping during nice weather, but I do live in England
Some Altura clothing on sale at bikeparts.co.uk (have found them cheapest for a few bits recently, quick post, and free over £20). Not sure if there's anything wild, but maybe worth a look if you're keen on their stuff.
https://www.bikeparts.co.uk/collections/altura-mega-sale
@thenorthwind Best place for Altura is Amazon, stick it in you wish list and wait for the price to drop. Had Eskar trousers and shorts for just over £20.
Cotton tents are very waterproof in the real world. See below for more details
https://nordisk.co.uk/pages/faq-cotton-tents-and-tarps

“The cotton has a hydrostatic head of 350mm, which sounds low at first, but it will definitely keep you dry. All our tents are constructed so that water is guided off the tent. Furthermore, cotton expands when it gets wet which seals the surface area”
~~~~~
plus you can reproof it easily and in an environmentally friendly way in a few years time
I’m stoked with mine, the quality is stupendous for the money
~~~~~

I've saved so much money since psa's were hidden away in this annoying thread.
Bring back individual PSAs
*glues oneself to the road in protest
I have a nordisk tarp it’s very very good quality and completely waterproof. I assume the tent is same material.
**** it, I’ve bought that tent, I’ll squeeze it in the garage somehow.
Uh oh I bought one too... But website showing still there. So more than one in stock? Or one of us will be disappointed!
Hopefully I will be triumphant.

+1 on the nordisk tent. Good size for 2 with luggage. Great quality. Bargain. (Though their instructions say it doesn’t need proofing and you shouldn’t do so.

Following on from my, what to use to navigate thread, and my planning to ride to Brussels, Topeak ridecase and mount £6, reduced from £50.

I don't think I've seen this posted as a PSA yet. There's at least 50% off a load of the Polaris gear on their website.
I ordered a pair of AM500 TX REPEL shorts and some coolmax socks not too long ago, the fit and quality seems pretty good.
https://www.polaris-bikewear.com/
I think it was posted a few pages back.
There was some discussion on the waterproof socks that work out at 8 quid each if you buy 3 pairs.
I bought some and they're pretty good. Crazy cheap at £8.
Yeah, that's a good point. I'm an 8(ish) and went for the mediums as the blurb says to size up. They only just fit even though it says up to 9.5

They still have the brand new Nordisk tents available for £160
Thanks just ordered! I bought a Nordisk Utgard, groundsheet and bedroom in the Wiggle firesale but it's a bit too big for solo+doggo roadtrips, the Ydun will be a better size.
I've just figured out what PSA stands for. Little victories in life ?
Great price Cube One55 TM at Tredz £4999 nice bike with a nice spec, shame about the colour though
£120 Nordisk tent just turned up. Looks brand new to me, I assume they ran out of the demo ones so just subbed a new one…
Got mine today as well (non-demo £160 but still an absolute bargain), will be using it next week on the North coast 500.
I noticed OMM postal address is the same as Nordisk UK's address, I'm guessing this rubbish summer wasn't the best for shifting tents.
BikeTart have DT XM481 rims for a good price, maybe others but haven't looked.
https://www.biketart.com/products/dt-swiss-rims-dt-ex-471?variant=40809649406131
Does anyone know off hand what colour squorx nipples are supplied with those DT rims?
They have always been silver alloys nipples for me. They are also slightly cheaper from their eBay store, have been on sale for ages.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363914971569
I got a refurbished Ydun. Very happy with it but the full price seems very high relative to their other larger tents. It had a bit of grass inside but still had the labels on
they’re probably not selling the discounted ones that quickly because it seems impossible to find navigating the OMM site. I could only find it via the link (or a specific Google search result link).
@onzadog I bought one this week and as above it came with silver nipples.
BikeTart have DT XM481 rims for a good price, maybe others but haven’t looked.
Great price, slow dispatch on the EX471s.
Wondering if they've gone on holiday.

For those on the Venn diagram who like their Ydun tent, Woodsmoke shirts, axe throwing (and Aquaman ?) … you may be interested in discounted

£40 delivered Carhartt trousers

there is even a whole arty marketing film dedicated to these trousers

@chakaping I ordered my XM481 BH Monday and it arrived yesterday, with silver nipples.
Righto, mine must be on backorder or something then
you guys getting new tents rather than 'ex demo' are missing out! i got a free can of partially used right guard and a spare plastic bag with mine! 🙂
Apparently now 110 quid. That's expensive 2nd hand rightguard right there!
https://reomm.co.uk/product/ydun-5-5-m%c2%b2-glamping-tent-2/
Just received a Troy Lee Designs Flatline helmet, £40 from Tredz... Ridiculous for the money tbh. They have various colours and sizes (but prices vary)
Doh, yep
thank goodness the thread back! money was piling up, could barely get of the door...
Hell of a spec on this for the price
Cube Stereo One55 C:62 SLX 29 Mountain Bike 2024 BondiBlue/Grey (paulscycles.co.uk)
I've been so tempted by that cube, one problem is the headset. Not sure if it's a deal breaker or not.
- That cube is a bit of alright!
I've just received a pair of Ride Concepts Hellion clip shoes from Evans. £45 plus shipping:
https://www.evanscycles.com/brand/ride-concepts/hellion-clip-shoe-140402#colcode=14040203
They have flats also:
https://www.evanscycles.com/brand/ride-concepts/hellion-elite-shoe-140388#colcode=14038803
regarding the Nordisk Ydun tents mentioned above/previously I'm in mine as we speak! Quality is excellent - the guy line adjusters are simple but clever, everything is well stitched, substantial pegs, useful ventilation windows.....however, you'd have to be very good friends to have 4 of you in here. They are a spacious 2 man at most.
They are heavy due to the polycotton but are otherwise a bargain if you are looking for a decent carpacking tent.

The 110 quid scout tent is a steal, thanks.
Aldi waterproof sock day, 15 quid, loads in stock. Biggest size 9-11 but I m normally a 12 and they fit nicely, q stretchy.

Yeah, they played the same trick on me, but it worked without me signing in to their website so happy to share with everyone.
I'll let them off because they make nice beer.
https://www.tweekscycles.com/podium-deep-tissue-massager-bmi-smart-scales-kit-podfyws01-spmg020-akn/
Podium scales and massager for £30
Odd that the gun and scales are more expensive separately. In searching for a review they are slightly cheaper from Tweeks' ebay store if you factor in postage. And the gun can be bought alone.
Does anyone ride in the carharrt work trousers posted above ? Looking for some winter trousers that are a bit warmer in the wet
Was in Evans the other day and quite a few bargains to be had especially on their own brand stuff. I think there were also some FiveTens knocking about for about £25 but only on some sizes.
I’ve also got a few pairs of carharrt trousers and I wouldn’t want to wear any of them for anything more than popping to the shop on the bike.
if you want something to keep you warm over winter these have worked fairly well for me. Though I do wish they had some pockets on them somewhere.
https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/mtb-winter-biking-bottoms-expl-500-black/_/R-p-305555
Re the Carhartts (if they're the double front canvas) they're truly horrible to ride in. Wide on lower leg so catch on chain. No stretch. Very heavy if they get wet and the bulky crotch seams rub. (I wear them for work but won't ride to jobs in them any more)
I really like Rev Race Nordwand Pros (as a 'not cycle specific trouser that are great to ride in'). Stretch knees and arse mean they cope with pedaling motion really well. But they're not in the least bit waterproof. Some kind of 'soft shell' version (ie not seam sealed) would be good but haven't found that yet.
WD40 drivetrain cleaner £4.25.
Alternative to Muc Off chain cleaner and half the price at the moment.
If you can tolerate shopping at SD and their returns system if required, they have Nukeproof blacklines in large for £33 plus postage.
https://www.sportsdirect.com/nukeproof-blackline-mens-trail-pants-333258
Nukeproof product page for sizing and detail:
https://nukeproof.com/products/blackline-trail-pants
The longer-legged rider will need large and then cinch the waist to suit.
Though I do wish they had some pockets on them somewhere.
The pictures in your link does show at least one large pocket but I think two.
So this is interesting.
Since we stickied this thread our revenue from affiliate sales has dropped by almost half. The reason as far as we can ascertain is because there are no longer forum topics being posted that include the name of the item/deal/offer and so fewer people are clicking.
So, I’d like to run an experiment and ask everyone to post a fresh topic for each PSA that you come across. As before if you spot a great offer you want to share with everyone start your post with ‘PSA: ‘
I’ll temporarily close this topic for a few weeks so we can see if there’s any difference. If it’s all purely coincidental that the number of outgoing affiliated clicks from the forum seems to correlate with the time this thread was stickied then I’ll open it up again.
Cheers All.

@Mark - I wonder if the issue with this thread is in the name - I was chatting to my wife the other night and she has no idea what the accronym "PSA" means and I also had to explain how it related to biking bargins. People who use the forums a lot might understand/follow the thread (knowing the tradition of PSA = bargin), but the title possibly means that more casual users skip over it because its not entirely obvious
Public Service Announcement

It's perfectly understandable that someone might not know what PSA means, but it's no more a STW-exclusive term than "LOL" is. It probably dates back to Usenet.

right - there's 2 possible disconnects
1. that PSA means "public service annoucement"
2. that public service annoucements are (in STW terms) specifically bargin bike bits that save\cost you a tonne of cash
