It's a shame they're so awkward looking, because £499 for a carbon Bird Aether frame is certainly cheap

Surely they could get them repainted and take less of a hit. £1000 buys a lot of paint. Could even charge more for custom or ltd editions

Onzadog - I know. Maybe they got them for free as a messed up order from their supplier.

I've never liked the way these look or wanted a carbon frame in general, but I don't have a full suss right now and the price drop has got me tempted.

It's five hundred quid for a carbon frame.
They all look the same covered in mud.

Take the bargain and tell everyone who will listen what you paid .... or pay full price and forget about it.

It's only a bargain if you actually want it though.

IIRC owners seem to report those frames are not light and don't pedal very well?

This has got me all confused.  I was swaying towards the buy button for a Cotic Jeht, having previously liked the Aether 9A which isn't in stock til late this year.   Then this weekend I noticed those Bold Linkin deals, which are very tempting.  And now these bargain 9Cs.

I previously ruled out the 9C based on it being more expensive and uglier than the alu, as well as being heavy for carbon with a bit of a reputation for hardware issues.

But £500...!

I've got some of those in a fetching deep turquoise. They're slightly too small but otherwise they're brilliant. Not much use on a full wet rainy day (obviously they're shorts...) but puddly splashy days, the high back keeps the splashes on the outside. Wear a top over the braces and no one thinks you've left your tuba behind.

Not sure what happened to Polaris. They've had that sale on for ages now and seem to be set up as a market place type site rather than just selling their own gear. Shame because their padded undershorts were my absolute favourite. I've got a couple of their jackets and a fleecy soft shell thing that are excellent.

I tried on a pair of those polaris shorts, the fit was ridiculously bad... plenty of room round the waist but couldn't fit my thighs or arse in them!

Not sure if this should be posted here but it looks as though Ethical Superstore are offering 1 day reductions on selected products.  Today you can get up to 33% off selected Miniml personal care, cleaning and laundry products.  This includes various 5 litre products making quite a saving.

You're surely wearing a jersey and a jacket if it's wet enough for waterproof shorts and braces though

Agree its a strong look if you go with just shorts and braces

Noticed some more reductions, namely 30% off,  that may be of interest.  Coffee and cleaning products respectively.

Isn't it always the way that once you've ordered something it gets reduced.  20% off OceanSaver products and fwiw am happy with the recent switch to their laundry sheets.

I have the minimus pull-over from a few years ago. I don't use it a great deal but it is a nice top. Very light, breathless fairly well, has 4 way stretch to the fabric so very comfortable.

I had a Minimus as well in 2016, used it for the Tour Divide in some horrible conditions and it never let me down. Sadly lost it somewhere between the finish line and Phoenix. I'd definitely buy another, in fact I'm tempted by these....?

@kitchener I have a Minimus for running. I bought my wide one too. I'm not sure I'd use it for MTB though as it really is very light and feels quite delicate. It wouldn't stand up to a fall and would likely even be ripped by thorns etc.

Have they changed the fabric recently or have I misremembered which Montane jacket I had? It certainly wasn't a flimsy item.

I know reviews on here have been a bit mixed but Unite Components have 20% off this weekend with the code UNITE20

https://uniteco.bike/

I’ve taken a punt on some 155mm cranks for £162.98 including postage to try on my Squatch with its pedal strikingly low BB.  Benefits to me are DUB BB so it will slot into what I have and they take a SRAM chain ring so again what I already have plus readily available.

A bit too heavy to take on the bike but bought one yesterday to put in the camper for general duties

https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/parkside-bike-tool-kit-41-piece-set/p10015688

Worth its weight in gold today as we needed to restring the fly screen on the habitation door.

The ratchet was the only tool that would go behind the ledges to remove and replace 14 screws

I got one of those as well, as you say it's not good to take on the bike but its a good little ratchet for most jobs and has all the bits you need, even has round ended allen bits.

anyone know if those unite cranks can be run with a 55mm chain line? I know you can get a dub axle but I think I would struggle for clearance on a slash with standard dub sizing.
