i got a set of the doyennes at £270, and they seem good for the money. Come with valves, rim tape, carbon brake pads and skewers, seem well made, not super-deep. only downside is one of my caliper bolts threaded as I losened the brake cable off (must have been mangled by the previous owner) to get the wider rim into the brakes, so I now need a new front caliper too

@5lab I paid £365 about 6 months ago and was dead happy at that price tbh. Never seen them go lower than £350 prior to Wiggle Admin sale. Spares are also going cheap so may be worth grabbing if you buy them.

I looked at a downcountry lapierre when they were cheap on evans. I was put off by lack of reviews other than one by Pinkbike that was less than complimentary about the suspension!

Just did two wiggle orders and noticed that the EXTRA10 worked in the basket, but the actual orders did not have the 10% off. Bit annoyed at that and will probably cancel one of the orders at least, because I was too weak willed anyway.

The xr sounds ideal for my preferred riding. Something relatively limited and xc, akin to a supercaliber.

I was looking at the rapide, but although the kit may not be quite the same, the reviews suggest the lapierre.something id get on better with, as the rapide is a bit too active.

Plus i could always run it 120 up front like the xrm.

@rwoofer Have a double check. When I used the code the total reduced but it didn't show up a total discount like it would usually. When I paid, I paid the reduced amount and this shows on my bank statement but the invoice shows the full amount and not the discount.

Managed to get someone helpful on chat. Take with a pinch of salt I guess.

Why was my order cancelled?

Nick R 2:05 PM

It was due to a system issue on the discount code. The IT team are working on resolving that but i have no indication on when that may happen. If you still want them the only way is to order again without using the discount code. The system thinks the order is being underpaid and getting cancelled when the code is used.

Nick R

The code may still work at the check out but I see the Terms & Conditions it ended at 10:00 on 07/03/2024 so is no longer valid. It will have been an automated marketing email pre set, the T&C state promotions can be ended at any time without prior notice sorry.

How much longer will orders be fulfilled for ?

Nick R 2:09 PM

Until there is very little value of stock left in the warehouse. Could be 1 to 3 weeks.

Would refunds be issued if you stopped and I'd ordered?

Nick R 2:11 PM

Yes we wouldn't take a payment and not fulfil the order and keep your money. They could be cancelled and refunded.

Finally broke and ordered a few bits of wiggle - sportsbar for the missus, dhb aeron shorts and a fjorn hiking pack for £30.  Hopefully the pack is not crap and it can be used for boy#1 when he starts doing proper expeditions with cubs / scouts

Also picked up some cheap kids endura stuff from sportspursuit

Just had my order cancelled despite everything being in stock….

I've had a message to tell me that one item out of several ordered has been dispatched from my latest order and I'll be informed in due course when the others are dispatched...
I think maybe the wheels are finally falling off. no worries I guess, it would be nice to get the bits I ordered but none of it leaves me in the lurch and the value wasn't a huge amount...

I had an order cancelled too - had assumed it was due to something being out of stock but after reading this it is presumably due to using the code. Only put the order in after their promo email that mentioned extra10. Have re-ordered and hadnt read this thread so used the code again so that will likely be cancelled next week!  Wiggle+ delivery wasn't available for second order.

Just had a dispatch note for stuff I don’t remember ordering that I might have reordered since but I don’t remember.
Unfortunately it doesn’t contain the lifeline cadence and speed sensors I wanted (£7).

@matt_outandabout

Anyone got the Brand X wheelset? Thoughts please…

I bought the 26" version, not had a chance to try them as yet. Out of the box the rear is dead on, might have to fine tune the front ever so slightly (but I'd expect to do that after a couple of rides with any wheel). Weight is less than I was expecting, accurate to what's stated on the page. Seem very solid and well made, subtle branding apart from the hub. Hub is clicky, meh, but very easy to service. Takes a 6902 bearing. Spoke length is same as the stockpile I have from the last big sale, woohoo! Fully taped for tubeless.

I'm quietly impressed, as I have been with other Brand X stuff I've used. Given the market for 26" wheels is somewhat wanting these days this wheelset is rather tidy. Other wheel size users have more choice but £40 a wheel is yes.

Just had my crc order from the 3rd dispatched. Helmet for my wife, and some gels.

Hoping the remaining staff aren't having too shite of a time. I got made redundant a few years back, and stayed on to empty the store/warehouse. Very surreal feeling.

Seems to be working the same way as Wiggle and not showing a discount total but deducting it from the full total.... but given it is a new code 10EXTRA and not EXTRA10 I've given it a shot again.

Stuck in limbo on an order now as havent had my order of the 7th cancelled given the use of the voucher code....thats still showing 'Order placed'. Im guessing its going to be cancelled as I put an order in for 1 item that I know is low stock that I had in for first order and within a few minutes thats now 'Order processing'. Dont know whether to put in for the other bits until my first order is officially cancelled. Minor issues relative to the staffs situation

I think thats an automatic sales based algorithm in the new website, and they then have to over-ride it manually. Hence the reductions being done in waves once have caught up with dispatch.

I'm in exactly the same position: placed order 7th March and added next day delivery (and used the EXTRA10 code) - that order's not moved beyond 'order placed' status. I've just placed a second order for the same items minus a jacket that's no longer in stock and that's immediately gone to 'order processing'. Mix of stuff I'd like to have, along with a seatpost I actually need, so keen to get something. Live chat is unsurprisingly not working at the moment so I've dropped them an email. Like you say, all minor relative to how shit a time the staff must be having and TBH I'm not fussed if I receive both orders as all consumables I'd use eventually.

...and that's why Mike Ashley bought the brands. Sentimentality/goodwill.

Both companies were LBS, family owned type affairs at one point.

Grew very well, got big, got sold. Presumably the family made a ton of cash. Business got loaded with debt. Moved to Wolverhampton. End.

I feel sorry for the staff, but the company isn't what it was.

Anyone remember Mountain Tamers in Boston? Accounted for quite a bit of my student debt that place. Bar stewards 😁

I placed an order on the 4th that was stuck in processing, then on the 9th got an email saying shipped and it turn up on the 10th - Now have enough coats to last me for a few years.  I have an order from the 5th that is still in processing and one from yesterday that is just saying placed.  The first two were placed using the EXTRA10 code and the one yesterday had 10EXTRA on it.

Will wait and see what turns up.

Sounds promising, as ive got a CRC order showing as "processing" since the 6th March, and was hoping it might have updated to show as "dispatched" today, but hasnt so far.. I dont think i used the code...

Was going to order some wheels but now not so sure!

our parcelforce man was round two days on the trot last week with 2 (kids) bikes. Was decent. On his second visit he said he’d delivered 4 bikes since he last saw me!

Given the demise seems imminent, how long would folk leave it before chasing up a parcel that Hermes aren't delivering? They've had it since Tuesday and every day I get a message saying "sorry, this parcel is too big and we're passing it to a special courier" but it's a cassette. The same Hermes driver that's allocated to take it has dropped off something else in the meantime. Today they've not even said they're sending it out for delivery.

Given CRC might not exist in a fortnight, a week or even a couple of days I'm a little wary about it - normally I'd not chase after a week but I'd like to do something before the wheels come off.

It's weird.

CRC order placed on the 7th was delivered yesterday.

Wiggle order placed on 4th is still 'processing'.

Returns are now £7.50 fixed fee, no option I can see to use your own postal service.  (actually think this makes sense - theres a cost (and eco impact) of companies processing returns, they should charge and discourage).

Speaking of returns, the ebay shop seems to be a bargain if you're after a frame, but some other stuff seems more expensive than the shop!

Wonder how long the clearance will go on for, they must be reaching the end of stuff worth discounting.

Chat does work on both CRC and Wiggle

I've just finished using Wiggle chat. Took a few attempts to get into the chat queue and when it did I was 20th in the queue - I suspect that's the max number they can have waiting. All good when I got through, so worth persevering. Clarified the order I placed 7th Mar is still at 'order placed' status due to an unknown issue (I suspect the EXTRA10 code being the problem...). Second order I placed on 8th Mar is still processing as normal with despatch expected in next few days - that's typical timescales at the moment which is understandable.
