After watching the F1 version, the first season of this, and the Six Nations version in a bit ambivalent. I feel the format lets down the source material by stripping away the technical detail and attempting to turn sports into soap operas. I’ll probably watch it anyway, but it’s with the expectation I’ll be disappointed.
OTOH I watched the first series, having followed the Tour in question closely, and loved seeing it from different angles. I'd also forgotten how most of it turned out so the dramatisation worked for me 😅
Nice one - MrsF off on holiday for a week, so gives me something to watch.
The first season was excellent, very exciting and fantastically filmed and edited.
Just watched the first episode of season 2 and it looks just as good as the first season. Plus you get Pogacar this time!

That’s kinda the point though. These shows aren’t aimed at the long term fans of the sport who want to know exactly how many watts Pog put out 100m from the finish and whether that was influenced by what he had for breakfast. They’re aimed at vaguely interested newbies to give them a flavour of what the sport is about. And the drama is what keeps them watching, because they’re not going to sit down and listen to Phil Liggett wibble on for five hours every day for a month.
How do you stop the horrendous dubbing and go back to subtitles?
They have dumbed it down, but you are getting to see temper tantrums. Dubbing isn't great is it. That said I caught the first episode last night and MrsF popped in and asked was it a Tour 'crash compilation'. I said no, it's about the Teams, but there was crash after crash. Thing is she hates watching it as I've had some nasty crashes over the years, and it's like water off a ducks back to me, She's had the emotional side of a phone call as your husband in Resus with the strong likelihood of being paralysed, or the many times she's dropped me in A&E with broken bits.
MrsF is out so I'm binging my way through these. Bascially, there is no way she could watch this after the shots of the crashes, Fabio's massive injuries, a death, and stuff. It really is carnage.
I've been a roadie most my life, but that got turned upside down 8 1/2 years ago riding to work - got my spine split in two by a driver. I've had numerous injuries from road riding, and have had a few since the big one. I take it a bit easier on the MTB, but nothing more than a bit of gravel rash from silly falls - but road is a totally different kettle of fish.
Glad she's out as I can enjoy it for what it is.
How do you stop the horrendous dubbing and go back to subtitles?
We had this last year, from memory you have to mess about with the language it's in from the settings somehow. Will have to remember how to do it again for this series (and buy a month's Netflix subscription(
TBH, loving the insight. Alot of riders must have ADHD etc, because their determination is incredible. It's an asset of the best !
You can see why they make "their" deisions under Team orders...
Brilliant first series. Looking forward to this season 2 after I've finished with Sweet Tooth. 😁
I watched the first one tonight and completely forgot the Yates Brothers' 1-2 on Stage 1. Enjoying it so far as a casual watch and not expecting it to be full 'Lanterne Rouge' and about Watts per kilo
To get rid of the dubbing you need to change the language back to original (IE French) with English subtitles. I prefer it in french as I think it adds something to the atmosphere and even in a different language you can hear the emotion.

Set the audio language to French (and display subtitles in English, if you wish), IIRC.
Ah, beaten to it. If you have some French but not quite enough, displaying subtitles in French makes a huge difference in my experience.
I still think that the EDR would really suit this kind of media.
and listen to Phil Liggett wibble on for five hours every day
i wish someone would post a playlist of Phil’s quotes on Spotify to sprinkle though my training playlist.
Having his downright bizarre quotes like “and he’s having to dig deep in that suitcase of courage” blurt out randomly when on the turbo would be brilliant! 😀

Red Bull used to have an excellent series called On Track that followed mostly Curtis Keene.

Well worth a watch, imo. And a resurrection.
I have just watched the first 3 episodes from season one back to back, really enjoying it so far1
