Do these cranks have carbon arms? Some descriptions say they do but mine arrived today and are scratched on the nds arm and it’s silver underneath.

Mine are definitely carbon. Are you sure you ordered the right ones...?

Perhaps a bit more surprisingly the total weight saving over the aluminium GX Eagle cranks was 67g

By shear coincidence i’d seen those sort of figures just before the Wiggle deal happened – it made them annoyingly hard to convince myself to buy!

As mentioned in the other PSA thread - SRAM make some lower level carbon cranks that don't really save any weight against say, the GX Eagle crank arms.

If you want a decent weight saving, you need to go up to XO1 or XX1.

Well being carbon skinned aluminium/aluminium cored carbon would explain the modest weight saving?

Wiggle quote the X01 as 546g.

This set of X1 Eagle is 568g so there is very little difference in weight. If the X01 is the premium carbon and this is the budget then maybe its juat super hard to make a chainset even lighter.

These are about the same weight as a pair of Raceface Sixc. The new Next cranks are about a 100g lighter but I would not run Raceface carbon cranks again. I actually think these are about on par for a decent carbon crank weight

Wiggle is quoting wrong. There is about 100g difference, according to Sram.

Its a good point, how do you know if these are carbon? Its not like the description was accurate.
I just cant tell. They sound quite different tapping them compared to my x01 dh cranks that I know are carbon.
I needed 170mm 32tooth boost cranks anyway, but would still be miffed if they weren't carbon even at that price.

They sound like normal alloy cranks if you tap them.

Mine arrived today.

Will store them till I need to fit a new BB.... so won't be long! Lol

Weighed in at 590gms on the NASA approved kitchen scales.

That's with a 32 ring and all the packaging plastic etc still attached.

Definitely carbon. I own a metal detector. No really,I do.

Don't care about weight though... they are caaaarrrrrrbbboooowwwwwwwwnnnnnnnn!!!

Also means I can fit a decent/serviceable 24mm BB and get away from non serviceable PF92.

But, it's really all about the ccaaaarrrbbbooowwwwwwwwwnnnn.👍

Thanks op and Tracey on the other thread!

Glad everyone got the bargain they wanted. Fitted the chain ring along with a new chain and cassette last night so she is now ready for the next race. Cranks have gone in the spares box for when we need them. I couldn't tell any difference between the XX1 ring removed and the new one fitted.

I was going to ask that. Don't race face do some for their carbon cranks? Wonder if they fit...

Our carbon cranks are fitted with the SRAM ones as in the above photo. Cranks are on their third season of racing. I hate to think what they would look like without the boots.

These look like the right ones.

I'm going to wait till next month so I don't feel like I've spent even more money than I needed to.

Don’t the Raceface ones fit OK? I’m sure I got a couple of sore sets somewhere from the various warranty sets I had over the years

We tried the Race Face on my X0s and they were too big. Allowed dirt to get down the sides of the boots.

I haven't ordered stuff for a while... is it normal now for Wiggle to be so haphazard with their pictures/ descriptions/ specs or did someone just get over excited when being told to get web pages up for a big box of OEM stuff?

Sram crank number one described as non-Boost arrives with a Boost chain line ring. No problem I thought the X01 is showing as even cheaper and exactly what I want (non-Boost)... only to receive an X1 alu crank, rather interestingly also including a pressfit Sram BB which I most definitely didn't order.

Is this a one off for them?

No this isn’t unusual for them at the minute.see the rock shox Yari psa from a couple of weeks ago where most people ordered 29er forks and received 650b instead.contacted them about the pair I ordered and there response was to offer me a gift voucher if I kept them, the forks don’t fit what good is a gift voucher

The above eBay link for the SRAM boots is good, mine arrived today from them. Would not use carbon cranks without them.
They are definitely carbon arms under closer inspection from a magnifier despite my initial worry.
Hopefully my slik x01 graphics will arrive by the end of the week to jazz them up a bit also.
I must say the gxp spindle does look quite weedy compared to the dub crank I removed.

That's a shame if it isn't a one off. The response I have so far is I can return the X1 "sent by mistake" (X01 ordered remember) for a refund and can buy the same X01 I ordered in the first place in a new order but now for double the price. No exchange or swap allowed unless the item is faulty FFS

The hope adaptor looks like a pair but do I only need to use one to be able to use my hope threaded BB

Or can someone recommend a threaded gxp BB?

Also is the ring 12 Speed only or can it be used with 9, 10 11

You use both parts of the Hope GXP adapter, press into both sides of the NDS.

race face boots fit the X1 arms perfect, about £6 with my order,
although i'm awaiting my secon dpair of X1, CRC claim they split my order of the 2 crankets, got one parcel, i rang cust services and they sent me a tracking ref, its not moved since 11pm at crc warehouse on the 8th april, i have a feeling i'll be back on the phone, as my delivery note states 2 items, (no mention of box parcel1 / parcel2)

I had an Uberbike ceramic GXP bb and it lasted about a month (heavy winter use) so if it were my money I’d buy the hope adapters, 2 minutes to fit and a much better BB.

The chainring is an eagle chainring albeit I believe these to be backward compatible so will work on 11 speed

You can get a gxp adapter for like £1.50 on ebay

So, I have mine now.
About 570g with the ring.
Quite pleased to say the least - thanks to jamj1974 for the PSA.

Can the SRAM X-Sync rings be run with 10-speed chain?
I've seen it suggested that the tooth profile only works with a SRAM chain. Is that so?

Cheers
JP

HELP HELP

I bought these for my new (to me) frame that has a Hope BBPF4130SS BB. just building now and they don't fit. Have a live chat on CRC and was linked to buy the BB I have that disnae fit.

Is there an adapter or do I need either new BB or new cranks?

That’s because you have purchased a 30mm BB and these are GXP which is 24mm tapered to 22mm (?)

What frame are you fitting them to? Do you have a link we can then tell you what BB you need.

Looks like you are pf41 which is this

https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/hope-pf41-press-fit-stainless-bottom-bracket/rp-prod118519?gs=1&sku=sku426253&pgrid=60711843258&ptaid=pla-426459865365&utm_source=google&utm_term=&utm_campaign=PLA+All+Products&utm_medium=base&utm_content=mkwid%7CsfhXoWZGg_dm%7Cpcrid%7C309840119912%7Cpkw%7C%7Cpmt%7C%7Cprd%7C426253UK&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqcSb2r3h4QIVGflRCh2a2QwyEAQYCCABEgJQyvD_BwE

But with the GXP adapters fitted to NDS bearing which are:

It’s a pivot Mach 6

Bb was in frame when I received it,

My x0 cranks are not boost so I stupidly thought all boost were the same size.

If your X0 cranks fit then just swap over the boost chainring.

It’s the spindle that’s a different diameter for the Bb mate. Your X1 cranks came with a boost ring so whack that on you Xo1 cranks is they are 30mm spindle? Or buy the correct Bb for your new cranks

If it's a bb30 bottom bracket you can buy gxp adaptors like these

Hah. I went to fit mine tonight, weighed them and they're 2g lighter than my XTR M970s that they were going to replace. Or slightly heavier, if I fitted crank boots.

TO EBAY!

@ Tracy - I **think** those adapters won't work in a 92mm bottom bracket shell?
