Planet X have SRAM Guide Rs for £34 each: https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/BCSRGU/sram-guide-r-hydraulic-disc-brake
They don't come with clamps, but they have Matchmaker clamps which will mount these (with a shifter if required) for £8 each: https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/BSAVMMXMA/avid-mmx-matchmaker-clamp-black
To add, the matchmaker adapters only work if you have existing sram shifters with the right kind of clamps. I don’t think they work with the cheaper non hinged sram clamps (please correct
me if wrong but I couldn’t see how they’d work with the brackets I had on my shifters a while ago).
IS there any way to mount these with a standard shimano shifter ?
Problem Solvers probably do a MisMatch adaptor that fits.
I'm assuming the Matchmaker clamps come with the hinged clamp itself, as pictured, which is what holds the brake lever. The Matchmaker bit is the black bit which attaches the shifter to the clamp (which I don't actually need in this case).
Was going to get a set but the rear says 20 post to IS take it there are no more PM 🙁
I presume the "20 post to IS" option just comes with an adapter (that's what I've ordered, was all there was).
Already a thread on this though I can say they are all PM with IS adapters.
@postierich Mine just came. I see the post mount comes with an adapter - just a spacer really (never used PM before). You're welcome to it if you need it for a rear? I don't need it, it'll come straight out for an IS adapter.
Can anyone confirm that these will be ok for post mount with the right adapter?
Absolutely fine. The Caliper itself is post mount, the IS version just comes with an adapter.
Brilliant, thanks!
Can't believe they've still got these at this price (if that's the case).
FWIW, I was a bit disappointed to discover they needed a bleed after fitting (didn't cut hoses). Never actually bought new aftermarket brakes before, assumed they'd come bled but maybe that's not standard. Could just have been mine anyway.
Every one of the many many brakes I have bought have been pre bled, after shortening the hoses the usually do though.
Do these come with spare olives and inserts?
Do clamps from avid elixir brakes fit?
Great PSA, one of my ageing Guide RSC's has a leaky caliper that's getting worse. Given the cost of the bits to fix is ~£20, plus the time faffing around doing it all, coupled with the hose being slightly too short, it's no brainer just to buy one of these & fit it to my RSC lever, and keep the R lever for emergencies 🙂
No spare bits supplied. Rear hose was pretty much the right length for my size L Meta AM and front was a touch long for a set of 140mm Revs.
Okay thanks mattbee.
