Sonder Winter Gravel Series | 2024 - 2025 | Alpkit
usually a very nice sociable ride out
Tickets cost £7 with all proceeds going to Alpkit Foundation
Hardtail friendly or is it a road heavy route that suits the faster gravel bike?
Bump. Has anyone done any of these rides? What sort of distance are they. Looking to do more social riding this year, and these seem to fit the bill well.
Might make the Hathersage one, and fancy the Ambleside and Betws ones too.
I'm in for the Hathersage one. I've not done one before, but the atmosphere at the Keswick one looked great as the riders came back in (we were there on holiday and I didn't know about it).
I've done the Inverness one a couple of times and they've both been great. A big range of bikes there and the route chosen in such a way that you can easily miss any sections you don't fancy.
Only note of caution is that they were'nt great at sharing the route in advance so it's worth giving them a poke if you haven't been sent it. On the last onw there was a bit of a scrabble at the start with everyone trying to get the GPX from one person who'd managed to find it buried deep in an email.
Did the Bristol one a couple of years ago. 51km, 660m elevation and very muddy. I can’t remember riding on any gravel apart from a few hundred metres in Ashton Court. It was mainly fields, forest trails, farm tracks, cycle routes and a few km of road.
It was a tough but enjoyable ride with a great reception back at the shop at the end.
Definitely recommended.
