That's what I thought. Especially as it's for cranks, not crankSETS....

Guess you can get anything for pennies, in this case a lot of them. Disappointing PSA.

Am I reading that right, and the rings are extra?

Never heard of them. But who on earth's going to buy something to put on their bike - admittedly for mere 'pennies' - that has graphics as awful as that on it? A back to front 'R' at the end of the logo, as some kind of childish play on symmetry?

*wanders off, tutting, and shaking head in disbelief*

8999 technically! Good price, if you want a lightweight XC double crank. Small market these days though.

But the chainrings are another 15,999 pennies. So, 24,998 pennies in total. Not exactly a bargain, is it?

I'm part of that market. Don't want those though.

Given the price that, say XTR cranks go for even second hand, I'd say that it's quite a good price. A lot of pennies though and 5 arm which is going to limit chainring choice.

XTR goes for 24998-30000p, and these are 24998p with rings. So not a massive difference.

Yeah but they're silly with the rings. Buy them as cranks only and fit your own and they're (relatively speaking) good value for what they are.

The spider does come off and can be changed for other arm combinations or, I think, a single ring.

Edit: 1x 4 arm spider is 40 quid, so still a good deal IMO.

Rotor....recommended by my LBS. Too expensive for me though I dipped my toe into the brand with a few BBs. Let's just say they didn't last many rides before getting rough and grumbly.

Hope have proved much better, especially in the mud.

Tested on nice dusty Spanish trails probably!

Dave Buchanan uses these in conjunction with a rotor ring, they're rather nice, will be getting a set when I next need some cranks I think.

Old site but used to justify the name drop in reference to product testing 😉
