I had those on my 2020 torrent. Actually worked really well in the steeps.
Can the travel be adjusted?
Great price.
Travel can be adjusted with spacers on the air shaft. Can also be extended to 160 by removing the existing spacer if they are 150mm travel.
Unsure whether they're boost or not. Doesn't mention it but it says they are in the questions section.
@akira 35s are all boost.
Great price and actually makes them a good option now rather than being almost as expensive as a good deal on Pikes.
Can the motion control damper be upgraded? And for a decent price?
Fast suspension was supposed to be doing an upgrade kit but can't see it on their website, wouldn't be cheap though. The lack of upgrades and the weight is what goods this fork back, although the price is very good.
On the Fast Suspension website, there’s the FAST UP 3 Way Damper with a drop down for the RockShox 35 Gold RL.
It’s not far off the price of the fork though, so turns it into a near £500 fork with the upgrade. Not sure where that leaves it in the grand scheme of things.
I’ve got a pair of 35 Golds, I find them fine for trail riding, especially when you point down, not a Yari or Pike, but then look at the price.
If you wanted a fork with 3-way adjustable compression damping, the 35 probably isn't what you want. Just save up your pocket money and buy a Lyric.
It's good enough that you would have to want a better fork rather than need it though. I've got them on a HT and really can't foresee a scenario where you could say they were limiting the riding. They're stiff. They don't bob too much if you click the dial round an extra notch on the climbs. They seem to give plenty of grip to the front tyre, and they get out the way on big hits, what more do you need?
On a FS bike you might appreciate more adjustment, either because you're going faster, taking sketchier lines or just want it to balance what's going on with the rear shock. In that scenario the Fast damper probably makes sense if your bike came with the 35's.
I really was quite prepared to hate them and be picketing Fast into making a damper, but TBH I'm happy with them as they are.
Those who might have experience of them: Is it better* than a basic Recon RL?
*(please quantify 'better'!)
I think it's basically the same damper and spring in a bigger chassis.
Depends which Recon you get, there's a "Recon Gold RL" which is what I just said, a Recon Silver RL and a Recon RL which both have steel tubes and a different air spring.
Great price but as above, not sure what they weight but they feel really heavy..
Saw a quoted weight for some 35s on a European website as 2200g. Bit weighty.

Sounds about right, the equivalent Lyriks with tapered uppers and cartridge damper are 2020g. So it probably is noticeable, not sure it really makes much difference to the ride though, similar difference to a light Vs heavy stem and alloy Vs carbon bars. Not enough to suddenly affect the way the bike balances. Someone suggested they used the previous generation maxle too which might be some of it. I swapped it to a stealth version anyway.
Building up scandal and could fit some 130mm Reba's which come in closer to 1600g, figure 600g is a fair amount.
Really good info, I'm considering these for a Zero AM build for my wife.

So's 10% more girth 😉
Joking aside I'd agree, I don't think the 35's are too stiff, but possibly overkill stiff for a 130mm travel hard tail? You'd probably have to ride them back to back and make a judgement on it. Probably as easy to say if you're a lightweight get Rebas, if your a heavyweight get 35's and if you're average you're spoilt for choice.
I'd probably say I might not miss the stiffness, but then I don't think I'd miss -600g either if swapping the other way. It's not the type of bike that's going to reward gram counting (the frame is >2kg) any more than it needs super stiff forks. I'm not going to fall into the trap of defending my bike part choices to the death in an argument 🤣
Those Reba's that were linked to on the scandal thread are a bargain.
Have found some Revs that are a good compromise as about 1900g but have the 35mm stations plus more options for upgrades. But an extra £100 on top of the 35s or Rebas.
If you can afford them I'd go with the Rev's then. Seems a no-brainer.
Wonder if Fox is going to start producing more Z2 forks for sale aftermarket. Between those and the 35 is seems like for the first time in a decade there are actually viable budget forks for bigger bikes on the market!
I picked up a Whyte with these on this season.
Mine are the Gold 35 2020 27.5 boost version which comfortably take a 2.8 Maxxis + tyre.
They weigh 2345g with the through axle (qr version). Yes that is 2.345kg. Good for keeping the front end down on the Uber climbs though.
They had a lot of stiction from new.
I stripped them down using the official service guide, cleaned, greased and changed oil. Silky smooth now. Very easy to service too.
They are adjustable travel and achieved with the all travel spacers so no need to change the innards.
Mine came with a 30mm spacer for 130mm travel. Can either cut to achieve 140/150/160mm travel or replace with ones from the all travel kit (£15ish).
Bar the weight, these are a great fork and at this price a total bargain.
On normal riding, difficult to distinguish from my pikes or revelations.
would these be an upgrade from Suntour Zeron 35 Forks?
I have seen the new GT Zaskar has the Suntour on the cheaper model and the Rockshox on the top model but cand find anything actually comparing them
Has anyone received these rockshox forks?
I've received the Rebas I ordered from Alltricks.
