especially given Guy Kesteven’s recent very positive review…

🤣

Yea but SRAM rival 🤷‍♂️

To be fair I've had it on my CX/Gravel bike and it's now 8 years old. Jammed once in that time (and the Dura ace on my road bike has jammed several times for comparison and doesn't spend it's life in mud and rain). It's (allegedly, I've never had to use it long term) a lot better than Apex.

I've got Rival on my Planet X cx bikes, it's been great

I like Sram Rival on my gravel bike, never been an issue (son's bike came with GRX and had leaky calipers leading to a dangerous episode where lost ability to brake, seems a known fault). Know what you mean about Guy's normally very positive reviews, but he did seem particularly taken with this. If I was in the market for one I reckon I'd bite

Guy couldn't possibly be any more positive about the bikes he's paid to be positive about reviewing .

Not being down on the bike, it looks great. I'm considering getting one if/when the frame sets on offer as my CAADX is just a little tight on clearance.

Says £1250 when I follow the link, 2hrs after the PSA.

Edit:

But the London road with Rival 1 is £1040 , for now at least.
Probably lighter being alloy rather than gas pipe...
