I was tempted, but I don't like the idea of press fit bb's

You can get converters so you can use a proper BB.

Wow that's only £20 more than the china carbon I have been looking at and I reckon it would be less hassle if anything goes wrong. Hmmmm.

They take the same swap-out dropouts as the Scandal, so yes.[quote=weeksy ]Oh! This thread is full of want want want.

OK so I already have a normal XT crank Hollow tech 2 effort. Can someone link me to whatever I need to make it work with the pressfit92??

Also does any one know if this is just as temperamental as the whippet in terms of being built for a double rather than triple?

You just need the bb as the std takes a 24mm axle.

Thanks.

Sorry but another question. Totally out of my comfort zone with this frame.

Would this slack set work with it or as the head tubes are different sizes between the 456 and the lurcher would it not?

I won't tell my mate that as he bought one a couple of weeks back to build up SS, apparently they wouldn't sell him the swap-outs either 😕

Do you know where he got his swapouts from?
I'm about to go for one of the frames but its no use to me if I can't get the horizontal swapout to make it SS.

I am sorely tempted by one of these too, the swopouts are here:

I'd be tempted if you could get 142x12 compatible swap-outs so I could use my existing wheels.

For BB92? I don't think so.

Do you need a chaintug with the swapouts?

Well I decided to go for one of those Chinese frames in the end, ordered it last week. From the tracking number i saw it was sent on Friday evening so you can imagine how gob smacked I was when I got home from work today there it was! Seems like it missed customs out completely! From a quick inspection it looks great, its one of these, can't fault the service from the guys there:

http://www.xmiplay.com/ProductDetails1571

I went for a 73mm BB and its got a 142x12 rear end. All in with custom Matt/gloss paint job, headset, spare mech hanger, Paypal fee and shipping it came to £420.

Only trouble is it got here so quickly I haven't got all the bits for the build yet, will post some piccies later in the week.

So one of these will work with XT cranks yeah?

Can you install a pressfit bb with a headset press ( 😳 ) or would it be a block of wood and a hammer job?

brants explanation on twitter as to why these are beign sold cheap was quite interesting - it's as part of the process of funding moulds for a 456 EVO carbon frame.

They clearly still see a market for 26" hardtails if they're prepared to spend $40k on new moulds.

Though I am sampling a 650B swapout for it too 🙂

I was debating this but by the time i then add in a new front mech (or chain device), headset and bottom bracket it takes it to £400. Then throw in some cable outers and possible cutting and oilves for brakes it starts getting beyond the realms of viability in all honesty.
