1 week only 160mm 650b in black at £299. Just ordered a set as a possible replacement for my Yaris that have a creaky CSU
Great fork. I don't understand why more people aren't buying them. Probably because it hasn't got Rockshox written on it!
John
Probably cause the bike brands have massive contracts to fit RS as OEM.
Get the IRT along with it. Super happy with mine.
How easy is it to fit the it and change travel.
I am not sure if 160mm will be a little too much for my Escarpe.
Changing travel is easy just add remove 10mm spacers. Adding IRT is easy. Use google there are few good video's and manuals that explain it all. Also mtbr thread has lots of info.
Great fork.
No doubt about it being a great fork but for how long I wonder and best part has to be that stiction free feeling with the big M.
why shouldnt it stay a great fork?
Argh, I've just managed to avoid buying a new fork to replace the straight steerer Revelations in my 26er Cotic Rocket and then this happens.
My Revelations at 150mm are ~540mm axle-to-crown. The documented A-C for the 650b 160mm Mattoc is 555mm so presumably if I install a spacer to drop that down to 150mm the axle-to-crown also drops to 545mm? Right?
If so, if I can handle a 5mm increase in fork length (or slice another spacer in half...) I could put 26" wheels in this and get a new fork that will carry on to a future frame...
I moved my Mattoc from one bike to another earlier and the A-C at 160 mm is 555 mm as I measured it.
@ RossB - yeah correct the axle to crown height will refuce at same time as travel reduction as spacers are fitted then shaft compresses to take up that space in reduction.
I really wouldn’t worry about 15mm as that’s like 0.75degree give or take and that’s a natt’s wotsit.
I have just calculated that if I run the mattoc at 25 percent sag like I do with the Yari, the increase in sagged a2c is actually only about 9mm so doubt I will be decreasing the travel if I replace the Yari.
That's a 150mm Yari by the way.
Just need to make them with a straight steerer.
Mine arrived today.
They are a nice looking for and came in proper box with all documents and a selection of spare decals on different colours.
Resisting fitting them just now as I am sort of hoping I don't need them, but also sort of thinking about keeping them.
Just a quick query - Don't suppose anyone would have spare green decals for these they don't need/want ?
I've got a set for my Son's cube bike 2nd hand (look like new) but with Red decals, green frame - it just doesn't go 🙂
Postage/Pint pocket money would be provided of course.
Email should be in my profile 🙂
Mine arrived yesterday and were straight down the LBS to adjust the travel, don't yet trust myself to open a fork...
Caledonia: I won't be using the green, so I can cut all the green bits out. Email/PM your address and they're yours. Your son is lucky to be rocking Mattocs!
PM sent - thank you very much !
I picked up a set of Comp's 2nd hand and they are like brand new ! Was over the moon. They are so light !
Last colour scheme issue to sort out is the blue rim stickers on the rear wheel - they also need to go green 😀

Might be able to help if ross can't.
Next query - can I get hold of the 8mm thinwall socket for getting into the innards without buying the whole 42 quid 'service kit'? I already have the flat 24 socket and a cassette remover. I understand that normal thinwall sockets aren't thinwally enough...
I understand that normal thinwall sockets aren’t thinwally enough…
grinder/file/sand paper
had to do this on a socket to get into my marzocchis at one point.
There was a post on here a few days ago with a 8mm thin wall socket for £6, a search should bring it up. The cassette remover will need a slot cut in it.
