Wish I needed a new toolbox, this looks good for the money
I do wish people would stop with the helpful PSA's around here recently. Costing me a bloody fortune!
Although that one is going to need an additional little trolley for transport as it'd 10kg on its own, going to be heavy when full of tools.
edit - there's a larger one for only £10 extra that comes with detachable wheels/handle combo.
Yeah, "thanks" @colp 😀
(was about to place order for a helmet, I suspect one of these will be in my basket before I hit pay)
Great spot - particularly the one with the trolley!
These PSAs are costing me a fortune too.
That would be great for living in the van.
lots of the reviews mention poor quality. Appreciate it’s probably still cheap compared to alternatives, but can’t bring myself to spend £50 on something that’s a bit crap! Shame as it does look good.edit – there’s a larger one for only £10 extra that comes with detachable wheels/handle combo.

If I'm reading the quoted sizzes right, the one with the trolley is barely any bigger than the one without, despite more drawers etc.
Rolling toolbox with trolley, 55(h) x 40(w) x 19(d)
3-drawer, 49(h) x 40(w) x 22(d)
I'm undecided which one I want/need now!

And yes, the reviews on the bigger one are putting me off it compared to the smaller one.
I have the tool box linked by the OP (but paid £45).
It's OK - has a weird drawer locking thing which can be annoying and fiddly.
If the lid is shut the drawers can't be opened.
I never move mine so I just sit it with the lid open. I often forget to shut the very top clear-plastic units (which are useful for links, valve cores etc) and then spill everything over the floor. But that's probably just me.

Same here, didn't really like it at first but have grown quite fond of it after living with it for a few years.

Might be yeah. I've never done that despite being quite cack-handed.
😛
I have the Mk1 version, think it was £29.99 as a PSA when I bought it. Still working well but agree with the fiddly drawer locks. If you are not cack handed you won't break it.
I ordered one but it came broken. Seems quite brittle plastic. The trolley one is indeed tiny.
The Halfords metal ones are better IMO, and even cheaper if you wait for an offer

Small one ordered, even though:

I do that already with my current too-small toolbox, especially annoying as a keep lots of small bits like that in mine, all (usually) neatly arranged - definitely user error 😛
yeah, I have an existing toolbox like that, I have done it before - cheap/crap design! These comments have definitely put me off! Shame as it seemed ideal size to keep in garage then wheel out to van when going away.I do that already with my current too-small toolbox, especially annoying as a keep lots of small bits like that in mine, all (usually) neatly arranged – definitely user error
I've the trolley version - and yes it's pretty crappy quality, but it's cheap so hey.
The locking mechanism to one of the draws broke on first use (something bent internally).
Lots of the reviews complain about the fact that the drawers are locked unless the lid is open. That's been a pretty standard feature on all the miniature cabinet style tool boxes I've used. I always assumed it was a useful feature for something that might be plonked in a car or van.
I looked at getting one of these around the time of Black Friday, but was put off by the reviews that seem to imply it's a bit too good to be true.
I've got a Stanley wheeled tool-box which is just about OK in terms of strength & am debating getting a second one.
If you load it up with batteries & powertools it will probably be a bit wibbly. But with a few bike tools, sealant, bleed kit etc. it's fine.
If you want something which is structurally weak with a poor locking mechanism and generally low quality components, buy this toolbox.
I did. It works but I am glad I didn't even pay current PSA price for it. My £25 quid clark toolbox in the garage is better built. It is absolutely not worthy of putting a pro tag on it.
The draws occasionally lock when the lid is closed. The top one always does, middle one nearly alwasy, bottom one hardly ever.
I have been looking at these for a little while as a slighter cheaper option to the Halfords chests. They often come up for sale on the "tri=sports-resort" eBay shop which is the ChainReaction/Wiggle eBay store. More often than not, then are cracked or damaged so I wonder if that does lend some weight to them being a little fragile. There is one on eBay currently at £26 (plus shipping).
I thought I'd check out what Screwfix have to offer here and found this option. Only £6320.99, but to be fair it does come with tools. Who needs a new bike when you can get a new toolkit for the same price?
What's the Skoda Octavia VRS here?
@continuity what toolbox is suitable for balding, paunchy middle-aged men trying desperately to recapture some of the excitement of their long-gone youth, whilst simultaneously remaining boring, sensible & predictable? 🤔 No idea 😂
