Just come back from the weekly torture that is the big shop. Whilst in Lidl I purchased a chain xleaner device with detergent and chainoil for a fiver, some bicycle cleaner spray for less than three quid, some silicone oil for less than three quid, and some spray on chain oil for less than three quid. They also have work stands for £25.00, back packs for £12, cheap helmets, (not sure how I feel about them) and jackets for a tenner or so. Might be worth having a looksie if you're budget minded or have family bikes to give a once over. I'll be using it on my usual bikes because lidl stuff is usually decent enough.
If you want budget cleaner then poundland do "no more dirty bike", its even pink, works well enough that I've not been tempted by the even cheaper option of buying TFR in bulk.
Always worth checking quality - buy cheap buy twice etc
By law, helmets must ALL pass the relevant safety standards, but see above .
I'm a snob to be honest and only get my stuff at Aldi.
Partial joking aside as I do get a fair amount from Aldi I would pay more for a lid, as above.
In amongst my plethora of expensive castelli Road gear I have a pair of thermal bibs from Lidl. 15 quid and more than adequate. Was just complaining today that I need a new pair as they don't wear as well as more expensive stuff but at that price I will definitely buy again. got at least 2 years use out of them.
Do they have more gear than is on the website ie any clothing?
Saw all the bike stuff in there today
The exact same stand can be had on eBay all year round for the same price delivered to your door
Even all the lubes and cleaners can be found online for the same price from well known bike brands
They do some good deals in there but they aren't always cheaper than well known brands if you do a little research, they rely on people thinking it must be a good deal because its in lidil
But it does become a real bargain when they discount it by 50% in a few weeks, when it starts to clog up floor space!
I bought a rear bike light from Lidl a short while a go - first time I used it in rain and later put it for charge it caught fire ... same happened to a friend of mine too.
Lidl were good enough reimbursing the money; but I certainly wouldn’t buy/recommend their lights again.
What brand is the spray lube? I bought a can from Lidl years ago and it was probably the best lube I've ever bought, was like a dry wax but less crumbly and fussy about application than say Squirt or Clean Ride etc. Not been able to find any since.
When I got made redundant and had to start commuting to work my whole biking wardrobe was bought from Aldi and Lidl. The Aldi stuff is generally a lot better than than the Lidl but over the years I have bought better kit and come to realise that most of the stuff I was wearing in the past was really pretty rubbish. Odd sizes and fitting. I have had a few really good items but I have pretty much binned everything in favour of better stuff designed for humans. I think most of the Aldi lidl stuff is designed for short fat people who never sweat. I still look every time I go in though.
Bought the small £7 "running" backpack as I wanted something smaller just for a hydration bag and not much else.
Quality is decent enough and it does the job. The bigger £12 bag looked to be really good quality and a good buy.
Lidl were good enough reimbursing the money;
reimbursing your money isn't 'good enough' though is it - its 'not enough'. A product recall would be 'good enough' if products they've sold set themselves on fire.

🤔
Commuting to new, much lower paid job.

It's not a wax type, more an oil type to be honest., it's Bauflex by Velo or something.
Anyway, the chain cleaner, that works very well, so I'm happy with that. I've already got a good enough stand, however three of the lads I ride with have said they're bang on, and you can just grab them with the shopping, so that's all good.
Lidl stuff is hit n miss, had their 3/4 padded shorts in the past and the fit was terrible, the pad was like wearing a huge sanitary towel (i imagine). Had the track pump too but the valve got stuck in the chuck and had no option than to snap it off.
Bought a gilet also which has been brilliant, light, comfy, good fit and decent zips and pockets.
Bought the chain cleaner and it fell appart.
Thing is, it's cheap and they are usually good at accepting returns.
I been wearing a Lidl helmet on the road bike for a good year pr so, It's comfy, well vented and has a great magnetic clasp.
I'd say it's definitely as good as any other big brand helmet I've worn and not crashed in!
