Hi all

Just to mention that there is a big Guide and Scout jamboree at Chatsworth for the next week. Running Saturday 24th (tomorrow) till the following Saturday.

Most of the 5000 kids and leaders will be confined to the camp most of the time - located between the main car park and the golden gates on the Chesterfield road - but it may be busier around the general area, especially with it being the first week of the Derbyshire school holidays as well.

It will be extra busy early tomorrow (Saturday)morning and late afternoon - the estate have tried to restrict the hours that all 5000 will be allowed to arrive at the camp, and presumably similar on Saturday week when they all go home.

Hope this helps some of you heading that way.

[Can't wait for the whole thing to be over so that my wife's life can return to normal.......]

thats a bit selfish, thousands of kids get to travel the world for free, often from disadvantaged backgrounds and you're fussed about a weeks worth of inconvenience.

My son is also going with his Scout group - So lets hope Swadey stays well away from the area. 🙂

thepodge - call it selfish if you like, but the efforts made to give all those kids that great opportunity - and I attended international camps as a kid myself - takes an incredible amount of effort on behalf of the leaders, and their families.

Tim/Ian - I'm sure they'll have a great time - if you are that worried about me, I'm only going to be there on Tuesday!

(All the peados will be in Nottingham for the beach event in the Market Square, same as last year!)

swadey,
as the son of a scout leader and some time assistant i'm well aware of the time and effort, just seems odd you want it over. if its hassle you don't want, don't do it.
