As a perennially difficult person to buy for at Christmas time, I've just happened across these. Massively overkill but 15% lighter than last year's and even stiffer for added gnar with difficult bottle caps.

Looks cool and gives Mrs C something nice to present to me on Christmas day, or club me to death with in the meantime.

Do they do a 165mm for better clearance when used in my T6?

Nice and all, but I'd much prefer £40 worth of bottles and I can then continue to open them with a lighter or cutlery or whatever else comes to hand

They do a laser cut steel one for £5 if £40 is too much.

Nice stocking filler. There are a few good bike related openers. I've got a Park Tools one combined with a spanner. I see wolf tools do one with a rotor truing tool

I actually have the steel one, it's every bit as unpleasant to use as their laser cut BB tool

That Hope BB tool I’d the most uncomfortable tool I’ve had the displeasure to use.

@honourablegeorge 😀 😀 😀 likely the least ergonomic tool I've ever had the displeasure of using.

Also, 40 quid bottle opener. Get in the sea

Edit: jinx @a11y !

This only works if the gift giver doesn't question the value of cycling stuff you ask for. You can't even try to explain why this is worth £40 of their money.

Question is are they any good as bottle openers?
I have an ongoing competition with my siblings to try and buy one which looks good but is absolutely crap at the job.
So far some from an ironbridge museum are winning. Look properly industrial but sadly they missed checking it was the right size to fit a bottle.

Well, apart from continental beers.

Or some UK breweries who dont want to invest in a good canning line, mobile or otherwise.
Just think about the dissolved oxygen in the cans!
I was on the wrong end of a lecture about how canning is more likely to go wrong than bottles. Well I say "I" but it was me and a couple of mates and I rapidly tuned out and concentrating on drinking my beer so dont ask me to elaborate.

Very cool, but bottle openers are everywhere! Apart from the obvious ones in the utensil drawer, there's the one that came with the barbecue, a Hope one built into a crank tool, two (unmounted) wall mounted ones, one built into my Burley bike trailer, and I've just noticed (after several years of owneship) one built into the buckle of my TLD belt.

I still want that titanium one though...

I love my lazer cut one. As your applying the force against a flat face it’s hardly agony to use.

I raise you £40 for a bottle opener, to 1950Euros for a Campag corkscrew….

https://www.campagnolo.com/gb-en/big-the-corcskrew—yellow-gold/CTBGO22UYG-ONESIZE.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAu9yqBhBmEiwAHTx5p1gh65EWgrMH_RiB76L42ixjJ22iPjqsiCkIgoFlFMzARo7Unx_v6BoCNLUQAvD_BwE

other than that one being gold plated .....

the Big Corkscrew is an absolute pleasure to use.

I received(a non gold plated bronze coloured one) one for a milestone birthday and its something I've given many times for a wedding present to (even non cycling) wine drinkers - Always well received.

I have the Wolf Tooth one in a rather fetching green and I must say its really lovely, both to look at and to use. Plus its light enough to carry bikepacking if you wanted to.

Mine was only about £7 in some sale Sigma Sports was doing a couple of years ago though - not sure i'd pay £20 for one

The Lezyne bottle opener is very effective at opening bottles, lovely wooden handle with plenty of leverage and has got me out of a couple of dry nights, it also doubles as a pedal spanner

Surely the 'best' is the Singletrack opener that will also actually fit in your pocket and is currently less than 6 quid!

Or for novelty value the headset mounted one:

You can then spend the change on plenty of drinks to open.

Cheers 🍻

I have the Lezyne which still wins on being the most ridiculously oversized tool for the job.

Aye but £40 quid for a bottle opener! That really is a 'how much!' even if the anodizing is pretty.

All of my pedals will open a bottle of beer, don't need any extra attachments.

[Bah humbug] The best is the one you already own, because you almost definitely already own a bottle opener, but then again the acquisition of additional unnecessary tat, aka 'stocking fillers', seems to be what Christmas is all about these days, eh? [/Bah Humbug]
