Not exactly bargain of the year but a very decent price for Hope kit. Hope Stealth Race Evo X2 down to £108.

Absolutely wrong time of year for me as I've no money left!
I found Tech3 E4s for £117 this morning...

Those X2 races are a great price, pity I just ordered a set of stealth races from my lbs X2 rear /E4 front. Please tell me you can't get race E4's for anywhere near that price...
and F20 pedals for £89
Ubyk have been selling the tech3 e4s for that price for a while now, I bought some about a month ago
Can some kind soul educate me re Hope brakes? Nobbed off with Shimano... Do the models equate to the Shimamo range?
Need xc (so those x2s might be the ticket) and also "trail" type brakes.
Maybe DH also, but I'm not spending all that at once!
Edit: The Hope website is good enouh

I've got a set under the tree.
I've got a set under the sink waiting to go on.
Rob I just put the tech e4's on both my bikes so I could have simplicity of same spares and pads. They have 4 pistons (2 each side) vs the more xc x2's which have just two. Saves some weight, smaller pad, cheaper.
Rob, I run tech3 e4 on a couple of bikes and keep pads, seals and spares in stock. The difference between my dh riding and my trail riding is rotor size. 203/180 for big boy stuff and 180/160 day to day. When I go on holiday, I fit the 203/180 and take the 160 and an adaptor as a spare. If I sprang a rotor, I can deal with either end by carrying just one spare. I'd either end up 203/160 or 180/160 but both options are better than no brakes.
Gave them a beasting in the alps at 180/160 in the summer. Other people's brakes were fading and giving up but despite the obvious heat and longing sounds coming from mind, they never missed a beat. Don't get me wrong, I was pulling hard on them at times but performance, feel and levers position were consistent the entire holiday.
Sounds like the tech3 e4s are nice & versatile - I'm with you on the spares/pads thing too.
They might be massive overkill on a rigid plastic SS, but what the hell - it's Christmas 🙂
Is there anything like a need for hope rotors or something silly like proprietary adapters?
Nope
Any rotor will fit,but certain shimano adapters ( and i guess possibly others) dont fit.
I tried with a shimano 203mm post to post adapter but it fouled the brake,so had to get the proper hope adapter
I think its the old shimano adapters that dont fit, if the adapter has a straight bar between the two posts it probably wont fit, if the bar between the posts is bent it should be ok.
