Cheapest I've seen it
Nice, but the website says they won't deliver to the UK.

It definitely did say they won't deliver to UK, but now it says they will.
Expect VAT to be added on though

Works out about £335 after tax, charges, delivery.
Mine has shipped. I did not need this but couldn't turn it down at the price.

I must say it is bloody tempting...
I don't need it either, I mean I've just fitted a new cable to my rear mech!
Hells bells, with my wobbly GX mech being raced on Sunday……. This could be a replacement!
During lock down you would have paid more for standard GX, if you could have even found then!
hmm..that site has an AXS revery 31.6 in 170mm guise.. looking at online VAT calcs it'll be £540 all in..
Not bad, but not in stock..
Hmmm...

any chances of less duties/fee's or a smoother transaction between DHL and UPS?

Grumble grumble... 200mm... grumble grumble.
Sort it out SRAM.
So GX 12sp is available at £110-£130. A nice to have, but 2.5x the price and +150g for racing…. Not for me this time.
Hey DrP, I have a 31.6 Veyron I don’t use 🙂
Ive just been looking at the Reverb AXS on it. My new bike to me that I collected last week came with full AXS. The Reverb had been swapped out for a 125mm and have been thinking it may need to have a bit longer drop. At the price they are its a big outlay and part of me thinks I should run it and see how it goes. I could always swap out for a cable one that I have spare for the Alps trips.
Would it be cheaper for us if we did a combined buy??
I guess there's VAT, but also handling fees etc could be a pain?
I've a 150mm dropper on my Stumpy at the mo - i couldn't use a 200mm even if they did one, but 170 would be sweet.
Also... I've got AXS gears, so...you know...!

Going by my last UPS delivery.. I'll be using Hermes/Evri from now on & no it extremely doubtful you'll won't get away with no customs charges
I have a 150mm on my old Levo as I couldn't get a 170mm in it. The Enduro has a 170mm in it. Both X Fusion. I'm not sure if I can get a 170mm AXS in the new Levo and no way of trying before buying. Its a big expense if I buy the wrong one. I'm also not sure how resalable the 125mm one would be to recouped some of the costs. I am sure that I wouldn't have bought a new bike with any AXS but this was too good a price to miss.

I know what you mean... I'd love to jam a normal post in as far as it'll go to test...but it's a huge faff to remove a NON AXS dropper¬!!
Maybe I really should find the maximum insert length!
DrP
you wont regret getting a Reverb AXS. I have a 170mm on my Norco Optic. Its awesome.
@z1ppy - i was thinking more along the lines of 'handling fees' and if they release the goods then invoice you or dont release until you have paid the duties.
but it’s a huge faff to remove a NON AXS dropper¬!!
All you've to do is undo the dropper lever off the bars and feed the cable through the frame enough until the post will pop out...
OK..it's a faff to remove and then immediately refit the dropper purely to ascertain the max insertion depth..! 😉
I could slide it out, and insert a steel rule i suppose...

Slight tangent but I messaged https://archercomponents.com yesterday to ask if they were planning a retrofit wireless dropper kit a bit like what they have for cable mechs and they said that yes they were working on it but don't have a release date yet.
Personally I'd love to make my 240mm OneUp wireless and to hide all of the extra bits down at the bottom of the seat tube. The only downside I can see is that you'd have to take the post out to charge it.
Would have been tempted, but my three local guinea pigs have all had endless AXS issues, so I’m sticking to cables 😆

I’d probably consider that a capybarrier to ownership too.
If you know somebody in Northern Ireland have it shipped there and then forwarded on by them.

What issues have they had?
Mines been flawless since I got it a year ago , been used in all conditions too.
Cheers for the PSA.
Worth also noting that the individual components are discounted too so you can buy without the charger / battery if you already have them. In my case I've just ordered a derailleur for my hard-tail and will switch the shifter over as required.
@tracey, when I swopped the oem Spesh dropper to AXS I had to go from 150 to 125 due collar and stack height.. The 150 was almost slammed, the 125 has about 5mm spare, for same bb to saddle rail dimension.
Thanks. I have 85mm from the top of the seat post to the bottom of the collar.
First job once I get round to it is to see how much of the post I can get in, hopefully slammed to the collar. Then find some measurements of the different AXS lengths and do some calculations to see if it will fit. Ideally I would like to do away with the shim at the same time.

No he doesn't. He still can't insert another post until he's removed the cable.

Arf:-)
Or should that be snuffle....
AXS is a lovely idea, i just have had too many mech breakages in the last two years to do it just yet.
Would love the seatpost though, save all the hassle, but it's between 600 and 700 quid, looks like i'll be fettling the wire and snagging in the frame a while longer!
When are Fox coming round to wireless, they must have something in the pipeline?!
I've just got round to fitting my XO1 AXS today, as mentioned in a post a few weeks back.
That seemed to be a bit of a 'too good to be true' deal too - from BikeInn, although it turned up two days later and no further duty etc.
If the GX is anywhere near as easy to set up and precise to use (it will be), I'd thoroughly recommend it.
Have the AXS reverb to go with it and although clearly don't need such extravagance, they do function seamlessly.
Caved, literally fitted a warranty gx mech today, haven't ridden it yet, but bikes are cool, and electronic shifting is cool, so **** it 😂
Seriously tempting even when vat and duties added
Well, my wobbly 4yo raced and bashed GX gave up the ghost today ending up mangled in my rear wheel.
Its a sign, right? 😀
Its a sign, right? 😀
To ditch it all and fit shimano? Yes.
Tell me about it, I thought for £130/£330 it was worth another tinker, and managed to fix it with some bending and lower limit screw adjustment (it was actually mangled). Of course, with SRAM this then means B gap adjustment and the very fickle cable tension.
Anyway. all good now so thats saved some cash.
Just had the first ride with AXS gearing (around Cannock @Kryton57 - watched some of the racers and they looked in pain).
Whilst the shifting is crisp and great, when under pressure and needing to grab either higher or lower gears, I always cocked it up and went the wrong way.
Not sure what is going on but, I instinctively push with my thumb to make it easier and pull with finger over the bars to drop down. The previous XTR 12 sp with X01 rear mech I had working like butter and tempted to go back.
Will have a go moving the AXS lever and look at the button settings to see if I can get it any more intuitive.

I had the same experience first ride on GX AXS and was wondering if I should sell it on and go back to cables.
I tried swapping the buttons around in the app so the top of paddle makes it easier and the bottom makes it harder and things are much better. Still a bit unintuitive but I’m getting used to it I think.
I definitely like the crisp shifts so I’m planning to give it a good 10 or so rides to get properly used to it before deciding whether to give up.
Thanks. Glad it’s just not me then!
I’ll stick with it a bit longer and see if I can come round. Had the same thing with a dropper post many years ago - sent the first one back after 1 ride as it wasn’t helping. Tried again a couple of years later and wouldn’t be without one now. Not quite the same of course but a similar experience.
On a different note, I’m also daft enough to have a power meter on the bike and saw in the axs app that I can see how much power I’m using in each gear and what the energy and time spread was.
All completely pointless as I’m only a fat arse old git. Interesting reading though.
twonks I kept doing similar and reprogrammed the buttons to do what I wanted and it's been no issue since.
Get the other design paddle. The standard GX one is gash.

Yeah its a tough course, endless climbing. I DNF'd last year because I was so tired at the end of the year, it was certainly a factor at the front of my mind this weekend.
I swapped the buttons over, so I press the upper button to make it easier and the lower button to make it harder.
I have been running mine like this
I swapped the buttons over, so I press the upper button to make it easier and the lower button to make it harder.
For the last couple of years.
Definitely the more intuitive way around. It's a quick change via the app.

I was so sure I’d think this that I brought and fitted the newer version first but couldn’t get on with it at all.
I think my problem was that it was too similar to a regular shifter but not quite the same so I kept getting confused by it. The older style paddle seems easier to me because it’s more different so I’m not expecting it to behave a certain way and getting tripped up when it doesn’t.
I've got the X01 kit, which I believe is the newer shifter button - with mouldings for fingers to pull over the bars as well.
Actually have the XTR shifter here next to me and I think the problem stems from the fact that the top lever can be pulled or pushed and both move down the cassette. The AXS can't be programmed like that as it will activate either button in doing so - hence the confusion.
Might try the old one because two positions - thumb press at the top or bottom can't really get confusing once learnt.
(edit - which seems to be exactly what has been said above)
Any update on the delivery for those who bought? Mine is in the UK and at the national hub at ParcelForce. The tracking shows it was initially assessed for custom charges and then re-assessed around an hour later!
Well i ordered a GX eagle cassette for what ended up as £136 and no extra charges it seems. Delivered by parcel force this am.
I caved and ordered today.
Would also be curious to know if anyone gets theirs delivered without any additional taxes to pay? It’s seems unlikely now, seemed folk dodged them quite often for a few months after brexit.
I opted for ups delivery rather than dhl.
I opted for ups delivery rather than dhl.
UPS have never let a package of mine slip through uncharged.

DHL here, for my rear derailleur, which hands off to Parcel Force over this side.. assessed for import taxes and just awaiting the letter to pay.
UPS have never let a package of mine slip through uncharged.
Ha! My flawed logic was that dhl have always had charges to pay for me, sample size of 3 though.
I dodged the charges with UPS once early last year.
Even with taxes added on, it’s still a good price.
Any one had the axs upgrade kit delivered yet?
I have a tracking event saying it’s cleared customs. Still no request for any additional payment yet.
I was just about to hit the button on a 170mm Reverb AXS yesterday after doing some calculations and dropping a Brand X in for clearance in the Turbo Levo when one came up on Pinkbike so I bought that instead.
Once it fits and I'm happy will sell the 125mm on to try and recoup the cost.
There were quite a few new and used GX AXS on there at what seemed to be reasonable prices
Ha, I got an email literally minutes after my last post asking me to pay the taxes. I ordered a couple other things with the axs kit.
Order total was 379 euros including shipping.
Just been asked to pay £78 to ups, so probably about £65 gets added on the to axs kit alone.
Question I can't seem to find anyone else asking.. can you 'hack' or set the system to run 10spd or 11spd instead of 12spd?
I've got some nice wheels that I can't get XD or Microspline freehub body for and I have lots of new 11spd cassettes. I'm happy with the gear range they offer anyway.
Ha, I got an email literally minutes after my last post asking me to pay the taxes.
That's a bit high-tech... still waiting for the letter from Parcel Force to tell me what I owe.
ha....
I managed to pick up a practically brand new 170mm Reverb AXS off FB marketplace for £400!
Fitted and rode it yesterday...ooh it's cool!
31.6mm so shimmed into the (large) stumpjumper frame..
Works really well..simple button press...
Haven't linked it inot my AXS gears get,but my bike is proper pimp now!!! Only the brake cables to cut off and i'll have a cable free bike....
DrP
so whats the final outcome on this R2 bike upgrade kit? total price inc all fees? somebody surely must have had it delivered and paid for by now?
If anyone wants the upgraded paddle shifter I have that I'd like to swap for a standard paddle.
The reverb is a 125mm x 30.9. The Levo is shimmed to 30.9. Its had 3 rides since new.
I should have the new one delivered to work tomorrow. Once I'm sure it fits then then the other will be up for sale. Not decided on price yet but it will be a big saving on a new one
If I'm on holiday in France can I get this delivered to my hotel and avoid fees/taxes? Or is there some cunning check dependant on billing address?

I can’t help but I also have an upgrade paddle not being used if anyone wants it in exchange for a small charity donation.

I'd just do that TBH!
I've friends in Guernsey that I often consider getting a shipment to, and picking up with a nice weekend away to visit them...
20% off a high value item isn't to be sniffed at!

I have a standard paddle doing nothing. Happy to swap
@tracey
I'd be very interested in the post, could you give me a shout when it's available?
Thanks.
Will do

I expect you will have to pay French VAT. Put your holiday address in at checkout and see what happens.
so whats the final outcome on this R2 bike upgrade kit? total price inc all fees? somebody surely must have had it delivered and paid for by now?
See my post above. If you buy just the axs kit then about £65 in taxes is added. Total price in pounds is about £330.
I ordered another axs battery and couple other bits so my totals are slightly different but it’s basically £330 in total. That’s way less then anything uk based right now.
@shanner - sorry i missed this! great jeez that is pretty cheap! did you use dhl or ups? i assume you just get a email or call to say to pay it? how exactly does that side of it work?
ive just gone so far on paypal and its coming out at £320 before any import fees are taken in to account so its likely to be around £380 in total not £330
That's about the same % that I worked out for the Reverb AXS
That’s not what I’ve paid.
hmmm not sure @shanner - did you use paypal? unless the price has gone up of course its 357 euro plus postage?
