They've got many garmin watches half price on amazon at the mo...

The vivioactive 3 music is down to £150.
It's a great GPS watch - i've got it and the ability to load 3 gig of music onto it is really cool - means i don't need my phone for running/gym etc etc...

A few of the forerunners half price too...

I think if you had the money to spare, you could pick up some fenix 5 and sell them on for a profit in a couple of weeks.

Damn you! Been looking at a remix watch on and off for months! Trying to resist! I heard a rumour the heart rate sensor doesn’t work through tattooed skin? Is that a thing or just a rumour?
Don’t know if I need all the denim features but figure it would be quite accurate

I have a 5 plus, great watch, but unless you want to use navigation on the watch (which isn't great due to the size of the screen) I would just get the standard 5, as the battery lasts much longer.

DrP, you just cost me £150

It definitely your fault, and nothing to do with my lack of willpower...

Been wanting a watch with music for running for ages!

Which is the Fenix to get then? Is the 5 just the 5 and the other options just colour ways and the pricing seems to vary a bit between 5 modes.

Good call, is the Forerunner 235 any cop as a replacement for a Forerunner 35? Don't need music or Garmin Pay, just for running and HR broadcast. Cheers

Smart watch Luddite here, how good would a Vivioactive Music be for tracking routes via GPS? And would it sync easily with Strava?

I've never used a 35, but I've had a 235 for about 18 months now and it's great.

Amazon are evil though - maybe get John Lewis or someone to price match?

It does lots more.

But one of the main things it does, is doesn't manage to feel like it came out of an Xmas cracker, unlike the Vivoactive.

Yup.. that's exactly what i use it for.
run/ride/gym with it, and once it's near the phone it synchs with Stravaaaaaaaa.....

Ohh get you!! 😉 I think it feels alright. No plasticy face ring or anything..just a simple glass faced watch.. Maybe the Music version is better..or i've little to no standards...meh!

I think i'll just stick with teh vivioactive music..don't need to spend any more money!!

One thing the Fenix 5 doesn't do is music - you need to get the more recent model for that.

Oh, I thought it could only do it with MP3s. So it can offline Spotify playlists onto it?
Balls, I'd just persuaded myself not to get one of these watches.

Anyone with the Vivoactive Music shed some light on if it can alert you to meeting notifications and display a list of upcoming appointments? Cheers.

Assuming hobnob means vivoactive hr and not the 3.

Saying that, hr served me well for over 3 years, but the 3 is a step up for sure.

If you want cheap n nasty looks, garmin wise, get an instinct. Haven't seen such gopping cheapness since saltcoats market circa 1982. 🤣

Well, thanks to this fanned thread I've just got a fitbit ionic for £129...

From eBay though, new. It's a very different beast, mind, but is nearer to my pebble time which I love but it's not supported anymore.

The first fenix 5 that comes up is £285, does that do any kind of navigation? I'd like something that at least will reliably show me where I am on a map, basically like using Google earth on my phone but without the reliance on network.

Re the spotify..
You need premium, but yeah, you just 'add a playlist' via the watch interface, and it downloads the playlist onto the watch (so once on the watch, no internetzzzz needed)

I'm after just a normal Garmin Vivoactive 3 in the normal black or gunmetal but can't see any better than normal deals?

I have just bought a Fenix 5 from those deals, waiting for it to arrive. I am about to put my year old Vivoactive 3 (gunmetal) on ebay. If you are not desperate to buy new, let me know if you are interested before I list it. This wasn't meant to be a stealth ad, sorry if it comes across that way, I was just following this thread for the Fenix 5!

Thanks OP. Mrs C and I are now waiting for delivery of a 735xt and a Fenix 5. It's been an expensive PSA for me.

I was tempted but it’s only £40 or so cheaper than elsewhere and I don’t desperately need a new watch at the min

You can only do basic navigation, following a route that you've uploaded from elsewhere. No maps - just a line you follow and an indicator to show you where you are in relation to the trail, if the icon's on top of the line you're on track. It works well enough until you come to a fork in the trail and you're moving fast, it's often not clear which way you should go and you end up going 100m (usually downhill...) down the wrong bit.

I thought some of them had some kind of heat map function. So if you're in a strange area you can see popular routes?

Sorry I don't know much about them other than they look cool and I love a bargain. Can't see a solid reason to buy one yet.

Mine doesn't, or if it does I'm not aware of it... The newer Edge bike GPS have something like that I understand.
