The Decathlon Ant+ speed/cadence sensor is cheaper, £17 (plus £4 postage). http://www.decathlon.co.uk/ant-speed-rate-sensor-id_8181211.html
Or you could use a cadence only sensor, and use GPS for speed. eg Bontrager Ant+ cadence sensor, £21. http://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/bontrager-interchange-sensor-ant--cadence.html

I bought the Decathlon one by mail order. Came very very quickly and works well. Not as tidy a solution as a Garmin one but it'll be out of sight most of the time so I didn't care!

£30 for a cadence sensor? They can keep it.
