Looks like Evans still haven't managed to shift enough five tens, quite a few are now 70% off.

That is all.

Oo, that's handy - I just queried the status of the £52 ones I ordered which haven't arrived - got the boilerplate response that others have had, warehouse problem recommend cancel order.

So I will cancel and order them at £39.

I ordered a set of Ladies Hellcat's last night in size 9, £39 instead of the men's £60. arrived today.

Nice green touches instead of the red

Evans in store actually have loads of 5-10s in stock. Wandered there at lunchtime and there was a selection of impacts / freeriders / freerider pro (including the booby ones) / Hellcats / Kestrel / Trailcross etc.

I ordered 3 sets and they all turned up no problem. Took a while though.

Aren't women's different sizing? So they'd come up even smaller?

I ordered some several weeks ago and nothing.... Just cancelled my order thanks for reminding me. Generic error about stock not being pickable at the warehouse and no timescales - why they continue to sell them is beyond me.

I've had 3 pairs over last 2 weeks all arrived with 3 days with evri

Just ordered a 4th pair of high top eps

I hope Ashley buys wiggle crc .

Does a fine job if you ask me

No idea why people hate him so much and often it's backed up with daily mail style quotes

Yet the people alleged to be running this country are walking away unscathed

Just added these to the basket with a few other low cost items. Upon checking out it appears that they charge £5 delivery per item!

Is this the same for everyone?

Mine were only £5 delivery for two pairs last time. Even then they sent them as two separate items and just charged one lot of postage.

Two pairs ordered, only one delivery charge for me yesterday. I went for:

Five Ten Trailcross Pro Clip-In for general MTBing
and
Five Ten Kestrel Boa MTB shoes for summer use on the gravel bike (OTT a bit I know)

Wishing I'd added a pair of Freerider EPS flats for winter use too. I don't ride flats that often and couldn't ever justify the price of Trailcross GTXs - I know the EPS isn't rated as waterproof but I expect they're somewhere between regular Trailcross and GTX for weatherproofness?

Went out for a first ride in them today. Very comfy and grippy 🙂

Size-wise they're spot on - I'm a 46 in most shoes and the 46 in these was a great fit. Not too tight and was able to wear with a pair of thinnish waterproof socks. Also a lovely big toe box.

Arrived today (<24hrs paying the extra £3 for express delivery worked well). Kestrel Boa's definitely too small and Trailcross Pro Clip-In are borderline too small. Bugger. Ordered the exact same 11.5/46.7 size as my existing Trailcross flats so didn't anticipate any issues, but no consistency across models it seems.

I note the comments re sizing above but perhaps the clip-in shoes are sized differently.

I was going to order some trailcross pro clip in myself in a UK 11.5. I know with Adidas and the different manufacturers it can be tricky to determine the size until you try them on. I got some sleuth dlx that fit pretty well but with no returns and the Delivery costs at this place it puts me off getting them. Of course the price is good if they fit OK but if you have to return them and then potentially re order and still the fit may not be as desired when sizing up.

I've got a pair of the pre Adidas ones in green. They look identical tbf.

The actual body of the shoe itself is waterproof (not sure about the tongue/shoe joint without checking), but they do fill with water and stay full - take forever to dry and get a bit mingy.

That said, with a pair of sealskinz, they are my go to shitty conditions shoe when I'm not wearing my dry suit and Trailcross GTX

Cheers op. I still use my 10+ year old ones with a flexible sole, plus my 5 year old impacts with a rigid sole which I prefer. Both pretty tatty.
Just ordered the Impact Pro Mid for £48 down from £160.

Nope, just the same, I had a nice gray suede + teal pair last time a few years back.

Went of 5.10 as the soles lasted no time at all compared to others, but at those prices 🤷‍♂️

I ordered two different pairs at the start of the week, and the first pair got delivered the following day.

I'm guessing I'm going to have to cancel the second pair, as there's still no sign of them being dispatched :/

They come from different places, some they have in stock, some they get in from elsewhere/stores rather than warehouse.

I had one pair turn up in a couple of days, another pair were about three weeks.

Lots of info in the original thread

Just took delivery of some Trailcross pros, clip in style. Unfortunately too narrow for my barge like feet.

I'm not convinced going up half a size is going to be the best option, and the only other ones that are 10.5 clip-in are the Kestrels.

Anyone able to share if those are wider(er) or not? They seem to be a different design and rubber.

Loads of these in stock in Aberdeen branch. Tried on several different models and found they all fitted slightly differently. Size 10.5 Sam Hills are tiny, freeriders fit well with nice wide toe, and pros/sleuths quite narrow.

Be ware not all priced the same as online but managed to get some Freerider EPS for the online price.

yeah local evans at xscape in MK had a few at random prices, but online are cheaper.
As for fit, I find freerider pros definitely narrower that regular freeriders

Bought myself a pair sleuth DLX and my boy a pair of Freeride EPS. Mine arrived yesterday and my boy's are due today.

I like the Slueths, I agree that they're quite narrow. I'm just wearing them as a regular trainers.

Mine obviously came via a store, as the box had a "£160 reduced to £80" sticker on it.
So instore £80, online £48.
They might price match the website if you ask nicely?

Same with the price discount on the box.
They feel a little tight at size 11. But as my last 2 pairs were size 11, both still in use, the oldest being 10+ years, I'm sure they will break in.
Oh and delivered today after ordering yesterday.

Just a note. JE James price match any real stores that have stock 🤔

I've walked out of there feeling like I've robbed them before and on a couple of occasions just not bothered checking elsewhere online as I didn't want to take the piss

Update on my order. I'm returning my son's Freeride EPS that arrived today, he doesn't like the fit so am getting him the next size up of Ride Concept shoes he already has. Shame as the Freeride shoes looked great.

The eps are a straight forward fit and some of the most comfortable.

Even with the extra insulation i order my usual size

Does he just not like them or does he have wide feet or something

I'm lucky that I only order online footwear and helmets if I know the size  ie five ten lazer for helmets that way I don't have to send anything back unnecessarily

Just this thread and the crc wiggle one alone has my head spinning, is this going on at such a large scale across the country with customers ordering and returning on such mass .

I'm no greta thunberg but it really doesn't sit well with me

This isn't a personal attack BTW it was a genuine intriguing question

As opposed to driving into a city centre and trying stuff on? There are impacts to everything.

Does he just not like them or does he have wide feet or something

He said they were tight across the top of the foot, when I checked I could feel that the material is quite thick just at the top of toes where the stitches are.

Just for reference, my son has had the standard Freerides before but grew out of them. He liked them. But when I looked at replacing them the Ride Concepts were a lot cheaper so tried them. He prefers the Ride Concepts, plus they're even cheaper than the Evan's discounted Five Tens.
I'm not looking forward to when he's wearing adult sized shoes as he'll cost me a fortune. I'm already replacing his shoes at least 3 times a year, which wouldn't be so bad if they were worn out but they're generally in good nick just don't fit him.
Every time he outgrows his shoes I have to replace his:

  1. Flat mtb shoes (also worn as general trainers)
  2. SPD shoes for his cx & road riding
  3. Football boots
  4. School shoes

Who knew that kids are expensive 😭

@Big-Bud

Although there are many variables, the general consensus is that online shopping has a lower carbon footprint than in-store shopping.

https://www.choosefinch.com/blog/shop-for-impact-drop

You could take it to an extreme and make your own clothes, but who's doing this?

I try to wear my shoes out before buying new ones but when it comes to kids, this can't always be the case due to them growing.  I do have something like half a dozen pairs of cycling shoes that are still in use but some are 8 years old.

Just this thread and the crc wiggle one alone has my head spinning, is this going on at such a large scale across the country with customers ordering and returning on such mass .

I doubt it's as straightforward as some headlines make it out to be. Most deliveries will be on existing routes so the incremental carbon footprint is minimal. Maybe there's a few extra HGVs on arterial routes, and a few extra vans (or bigger vans) as routes get shorter but more dense. So there's probably an impact, but it's not as high as saying; x% of orders get returned, therefore the carbon footprint of returns = x% * total carbon footprint of the whole postal industry. And it's obviously going to be a LOT lower than going to a shop by car and trying a pair on.

That and Evans is the opposite end of the returns scale from Wiggles generosity. You have to pay postage both ways. I can't imagine many people are gambling and paying ~£10 for £33 shoes.

How well do the stealth soles cope with hike a bike type terrain? I know it's grippy rubber but I can't see them being great in the mud or in loose conditions?

Probably should have asked before I bought a pair of Trail cross Pro clip ins...

I got two pairs of the Sleuths too, for £61 inc. delivery. The canvas pair fit okay, but the DLX pair are too narrow unless I remove the insole. But dislike them both from looks, thought they might look okay in the flesh. The soles are too stiff for street riding, ruins the pedal feel I need, plus dislike the raised heel (and pointlessness of the heel extending rearwards). Sending them back.

Best I stick with Vans I think.

Tried the Leatt 1.0? https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/leatt-1-0-flat-pedal-shoe
I bought some but can only wear them as normal trainers cos there is too much pedal feel for me.

Trail ones are ok for muddy hike a bike, the standard Five Ten soles are terrible in the mud but no worse than most other makes of mtb flat shoes.

Just ordered two pairs of Sleuth's for my son and I. He already has a pair of Five Tens that fit perfectly so I've got him the next size up. For the once in a blue moon that I use flats, I bought myself some too. £22 a pair seemed pretty reasonable.

Edit - arrived in two days, along with a Specialized tyre that was heavily discounted too.

For those interested in timeline, and what emails to expect, received my order (pair of Trailcross Pros and Freeride Pros) on the 28th, ordered them on the 25th, received an order processed/payment taken email on the 27th.

Both pairs had 50% off stickers on the box, so guess they were shipped back to the warehouse from shops

Or - scary thought - they're imported with the stickers already on. Much more efficient that way. 😉

I bought two pairs of sleuths from crc in 2017. One pair is now for DIY and painting. One pair is just a bit tatty.

I bought a pair of fabric sleuths and the pu plastic/ leather dx ones.

Not quite the same size, but both pairs feel good.

Hope they last another 6 years 😀
