I'm so tempted but they're such a sponge! Are these the ones that were generally reviewed as having very poor "feel"?

Nah, that's the new ones, the VXI. These I think are the tweaked version of the classic impact, "the world's grippiest sponge" tm

Got mine @ lunch in Swindon (they have loads) im usually a 10.5 but there is quite a lot of padding so bought the 11's instead (plus they dont have half sizes)

Is it just me or do they look like the sole is about an inch and a half thick?

They don't have 9.5 unfortunately, could have been good for giving me a bit more room to move above the saddle.

Cheers op. I've been wanting to try some 5tens for ages but couldn't justify the normal price for a test.

My freeriders are 8.5 and can feel a bit tight with sealskinz socks, so I bought 9.

They are pretty chunky out of the box, but not that noticeable on. (For ref my regular ones are the Danny McCaskill freeride ones)

How well do they keep your feet dry? Or is that part of the sponge factor?

They're useless for keeping your feet dry but great otherwise, mine will be kept for summer.

Cheers Northwind, think I'll avoid even so. They just take so long to dry! Great PSA though OP

They're never going to dry mate, still full of snow.

Got 3 pairs of Impact lows already, my favourites.

now showing as collection-only with no delivery available, and EVERY store that does have stock is "only 1 left!" which seems like a remarkable coincidence.

Actually the thread has reminded me I still have some BNIB Barons stashed at the back of a wardrobe from a couple of years ago (I recently found some Cat boots I'd bought cheap in 2014 too so I have a habit of stockpiling bargains and forgetting them 😳 )

Just picked a pair up from the Chester store. Thanks for the heads up, as I needed some as my old Karve ones (the Kovarik ones) has started laughing.

I normally wear a size 46 (11) in most things. These are too short. Wide enough but my toes are jammed in the end. Mine are going back but worth a punt as returns are free using collect+ so thanks to OP for the heads up, I'll know what size to order next time round!
